Holborn Restaurant 1874 (struck around 1895) 69mm diameter and weighing 236 grammes, struck in lead with a bronzed finish Eimer 1640, BHM 2990. Obverse: A group of figures congregated around a grand entrance HOLBORN. In exergue: RESTAURANT ESTd. 1874, Reverse: Couples dancing on a large ballroom floor. Below PRESENTED BY THE PROPRIETORS, to Mr. J.E. Thorpe Esq. July 7th 1897, VF with some edge bruises. A total of 34 inscriptions are so far recorded of the recipients of the medal between 1893 and 1897. Established in 1874, the restaurant was the grandest establishment of its kind in London and held a unique position in London social life. Many of its facilities were available for private hire, with the King's Hall capable of accommodating 500 diners. The room is described as the 'Home of Golf, Hockey and Tennis clubs holding Annual Reunions'. The restaurant operated until 1954. It was demolished in 1955.

Solander first accompanied Joseph Banks on James Cook's voyage around the world. He also went with Banks to Iceland in 1772. In 1773 he became keeper of the Natural History department in the British Museum. The medal was struck at the Swedish Royal Mint in 1783 and dedicated to Joseph Banks by Klas and Johann Alstrӧmer. One Thousand Pounds 2019 200th Anniversary of the Birth of Queen Victoria 100mm diameter, One KiloGold Proof, S.OE10 The reverse with conjoined portraits of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, in the style of the Great Exhibition medal of 1851, FDC in the Royal Mint box of issue with booklet and certificate number 004 of only 12 minted, the certificate with an inked signature on it
Waterloo Medal 1815 with original claw, with split ring suspension and ribbon, awarded to Jos. Edwards, 23rd Foot. R.W.F. Bright VF with some contact marks, Private Edwards served in Captain Thomas Farmer's Company No.7. Sold with certificate of verification referring to P.R.O. series no. WO 100 15 Folio 72, and a copy of the list of all those serving in Captain Farmer's Company No.7
Arctic Medal 1818-1855 designed by Leonard Charles Wyon, in octagonal form, the reverse a three-masted ship 'FOR ARCTIC DISCOVERIES' 1818-1855 in exergue, Obverse: Bust of Queen Victoria to left VICTORIA REGINA with beaded border, star suspension with loop and ivory colour ribbon, Bright NEF unnamed as issued, the portrait with some rubbing, the obverse fields with some hairlines
China War Medal 1842 awarded to George Connor, H.E.I.C.S. Proserpine, GVF with some hairlines and edge nicks, only 56 medals were awarded to this ship. Proserpine was a 46-gun, 5th rate ship built at Plymouth.
Army of India Medal, reverse short hyphen type, officially impressed naming, with Bhurtpoor clasp, awarded to Ensign T.G. Dundas 15th N.I. EF with some hairlines and some rub to the portrait. Thomas Graham Dundas arrived in Calcutta on October 4th 1825, and was entitled to Bhurtpoor prize money of 2381 Rupees (£238 sterling) which he did not claim in India. Comes with copy of India Office Library and Records stating record of service, date of commission of rank as Ensign 13th May 1825, and Lieutenant 19th Oct.1836, also List of services - Posted as Ensign to 15th N.I. 1825. Siege and Capture of Bhurtpore, Ensign 15th N.I. (India Medal). Transferred as Lieutenant to 4th Extra Regiment (became 72nd N.I) from 19th Oct.1826, after his marriage in 1832 to Margaret Maria Louisa, 3rd daughter of Edward Swift Broughton. After a period of furlough, from 10th September 1833, he failed to report for his return and subsequently resigned his commission on 3rd Feb. 1835.
Queen's South Africa Medal, 3rd type reverse, with Defence of Mafeking clasp, awarded to J. Kelly, Mafeking Town Guard. Bright EF with hairlined in the fields, always a highly desirable and keenly sought after issue
NavalGeneral Service Medal 1848 with Syria clasp, awarded to John H. Stuart, Able Seaman, H.M.S. Bellerophon. (Napoleon to St. Helena) NEF with some light contact marks and hairlines, John H. Stuart is a unique name on the Naval General Service Roll
Transport Medal 1903, with South Africa 1899-1902 clasp, awarded to D.McAdam, VF, the last of the medals associated with the major conflicts at the turn of the century. The medal was awarded to officers of the merchant vessels used to carry troops and supplies to the wars in South Africa and China, the medal was discontinued on 4/8/14 on the outbreak of World War I. An estimated 1219 medals were awarded.
