The 8th Regiment saw action at the Battles of Guillemont and Ginchy. Pte.Connor died of wounds in France 24/6/1916. Brown was born in Ahmednagar, India enlisted in Winchester, UK, and was killed in action 8/5/1915 at the second Battle of Ypres. This battle is the first recorded use of poison gas on the Western Front, and over 300 men were killed in the last German assault on Frezenberg, He is buried ay Ypres Menin Gate Memorial, Panel 12, Capt. J.M.Fonseca R.A.M.C, First Welsh Field Ambulance, 53rd Welsh Division, served in Gallipoli 1914. NEF.
