British West Africa One Tenth Penny 1956 KM#32 lustrous Unc a hoard of approximately 2,000 pieces accompanied with the original Royal Mint bag and seal. Before this hoard these coins were rare with the three examples we have previously offered realising between £300 and £460 and Krause lists them at $700 in MS60 (most or all of this hoard would be in much higher grades than MS60)

Noble, Henry IV Heavy Coinage (1399-1412) London Mint mint mark Cross Pattee, old arms with four lis in French quarters, crescent on rudder, nails on ships side point to the left S.1705North 1336 (a), as Schneider 189 with minor stop variations, Good EF about as struck, the portrait especially bold and clear and struck on a full round flan with all legends and details sharp and crisp, weight 7.71 grammes. A rarer type and in superior grade to the S.1706 cf.Schneider 194 specimen sold at St. James Auction 30/9/2010 which realised £56,000 hammer price. This coin is from the MPO Utrecht auction May 2003 where a large European hoard was sold which included over 130 English Nobles (mostly Edward III and Richard II) and many hundreds of continental gold pieces. The most recent English issues were 3 Henry IV Heavy Nobles this lot being one so the hoard must have been lost soon after these were struck thus the exceptionally high grade. A choice example of the extremely rare first type of Henry IV Heavy Coinage seldom offered for sale in any grade, this coin is certainly amongst the finest known or perhaps the best extant of this type. EX MPO Utrecht 30 May 2003, Ex Stephen Lockett Coins who the current vendor bought it off in September 2003 for £16,500, so not been on the market for 11 years

Hammered (4) An interesting group which represents the transition from short cross to cross and pellets coinage in England during the 13th century, PennyJohn Class 5c SIMON ON CAN Canterbury mint (N,971, S.1352) GF, very slight flan loss but a clear portrait, Penny Henry III Class 5a RICARD ON LVND London mint (N.991/2, S.1367),VF and nicely toned, flan slightly crimped and the reverse a little off struck, Penny Edward I Class VI IOH ON SEINTED Bury St. Edmunds mint (N.1001, S.1377) Fine, the crude portrait mostly clear, probably from the Colchesterhoard, Penny Edward I Class 4d with pellet at beginning of Obv. and rev. legend Canterbury mint (N.1026, S.1419) GF and toned
A large hoard of Sixpences, Shillings, Florins and Halfcrowns (82 kilos will be about £750 face value) no apparent silver the Shillings and Florins containing some decimal 5p and 10p (the larger de-monetised types) some in high grades, along with bronze (6.5 kilos)
Guinea 1714 Spink 3574 choice and graded Unc 80 by CGS rare thus, apart from hoard coins such as the 1708 and 1723 Shillings it is unusual to find any early milled coins especially gold higher than AU78, this piece is the finest known by type, as well as being the only Guinea in the whole date range from Charles II to 1813 that has made the Unc 80 grade (121 have been graded so far) so is up to now the finest known Guinea
Farthings 1825 (48) generally UNC or near so some with spots, many with lustre, Spinks now listing at £75 EF and £140 UNC an unusual group and presumably from a hoard
