Queen's South Africa Medal, 3rd type reverse, with 4 clasps, Elandslaagte, Orange Free State, Transvaal and Laing's Nek, awarded to 287 Tpr: H. Cullingworth, Natal M.R. EF with some hairlines, comes with copy of entitlement to the medal and a copied account of a demonstration against an enemy-held hill on the Modder Spruit side of Ladysmith known as Tinta 'Nyoni. The force, led by General White consisted of 5th Lancers, 19th Hussars, I.L.H, Natal M.R., 42nd and 53rd Batteries R.G.A., 1st LiverpoolRegiment, 1st Devons, 1st Gloucestershires and 2nd Kings Royal Rifles, a total of 5300 officers and men. The Force proceed along the Newcastle Road for about 6 miles, when they came under fire from their left at 0700 hrs. Their action was prompt and at 0800 a discharge of musketry rose and fell among the extended line of troopers, as the infantry had come up to Rietfontein. The British were soon shelling the enemy opposition, and one extremely accurate shell burst full upon one of the Boer pieces. The Natal Mounted Rifles. were ordered by Sir George White across from his right and sent in front of his left flank. The colonial riflemen used all of their skills to remove all of the danger and the object accomplished, 114 casualties were suffered. No Natal M.R were killed, and only three wounded including Trooper H. Cullingworth.

South AfricaColonial Bank of Natal 5 Pounds Pick S432 dated 9th June 1862 Pietermaritzburg, Natal and a low number 058, manuscript signatures for Entered William Chapman titled Manager and 2 sets for the Board of Directors, VG and an Exceptionally Rare early note. Uniface in black and white with value wording in panel at lower left and bank title at upper centre below an illustration of a farm field with resting cow, windmill, wheat stack and the Bank's monogram in 3 bays of wool. Colony of Natal was a British colony in south-eastern Africa proclaimed as such on the 4th May 1843 after the British Government had annexed the Boer Republic of Natalia. On the 31st May 1910 it was combined with the other 3 colonies to form the Union of South Africa and it was the smallest of its provinces and very popular with its beaches, mountains and savannah densely populated with big game.
