Halfcrown 1817 Bull Head, S over I in PENSE, unlisted by the 1992 ESC, Bull lists as I over S (?) Bull 2092 and listed as Rarity 3, UNC or very near so with some very minor spots, a crisp strike with choice fields and subtle touches of golden tone in the legends, compares favourably with the Ex-Colin Adams example sold in London Coins Auction A130 5th September 2010 (Lot 1328), a superb piece and fully justifying it's rarity rating, indeed, our archive database stretching back 20 years confirms this is only the third such piece we have offered.
Halfcrown 1920 Davies 1672N struck in a hard nickel type alloy and weighing 12.43 grammes. There are 1924 trial nickel shillings, with a very rare example struck metrically weighing 5 gr. The 1672N Halfcrown listed here may also be a Royal Mint trial, when a complete elimination of silver seemed feasible. There appears to be an interesting 'privy' mark, introduced by a thicker down stroke to the 'D' of 'Dei' with the top serif of this 'D' being double struck. The border bead above is also oversized (wider). This would be an odd occurrence for any counterfeiter, especially on top of striking perfectly die-cut, but lightweight coins in this hard metal, and having excellent milling. a similar example was listed in Auction A151 6/12/2015 (Lot 2687, weight 11.92 grammes, realised £120 hammer price), the description then stating that only 6 of these examples were then known to the vendor Near Fine/VG a highly unusual type, in an LCGS holder and graded LCGS 15, Ex-Colin Adams collection
Halfcrown 1693 ESC 519, Bull 860 UNC or very near so, with old grey toning, in an LCGS holder and graded LCGS 75, a superb example of the second busts/third shields type, many times rarer in high grade than the first busts coinage, and would be a superb addition to any top quality Halfcrown collection, the finest known of just 4 examples thus far recorded by the LCGS Population Report, Ex-Colin Adams Collection, Spink Coin Auction No.5033 December 2005 Lot 408 hammer price £1900

Halfcrown 1848 8 over 7 in date Davies 572 Ex-Colin Adams Collection near Fine and graded 15 by CGS and in their holder, a rarity with this only the second example recorded on the LCGS database

Halfcrown 1848 8 over a 7 with strong evidence of a diagonal down stroke in the lower loop of the 8, and exactly the same as the example in the Colin Adams Collection and subsequently in the Roland Harris Collection (London Coins Auction A124 Lot 436), unlisted by ESC, VG or better the overdate clear, Very Rare
Halfcrown 1831 Plain edge Proof with WW in script, with upright die axis alignment, unrecorded by ESC, Davies or Spink however we note that Coincraft lists the piece as W4HC-025 and also Spink lists an 1831 Crown with a similar die axis alignment, FDC or very near so with a deep blue and green tone. Weight 13.74 grammes. Cataloguers note: Coincraft states that these pieces were possibly struck at a later date, indeed, close inspection of the coin shows that the rim is of a wider type and more akin to the later currency pieces 1834-1837 and also states that some of these weigh 'c.13 grammes', We note there was no example of this type in the Colin Adams Collection
