Saudi Arabia Monetary Agency Hajj Pilgrim Receipt 1 Riyal Second issue during the reign printed of King Saud Pick 2 AH 1375 (1956) series 10 / 148081, about VF and Scarce. In red on multicolour displaying the Entrance to the Royal Khuzam Palace in Jeddah and the value of the receipt in Arabic, Malawi, Urdu, Persian, Turkish and English on obverse. The reverse brown with undertaking in the Arabic, Turkish, Malawi, Urdu and Persian languages and at the bottom is the Kingdom's Coat of Arms. These receipts used to serve in a similar way as a traveller's cheque for the Muslim Hajj Pilgrims that would usually receive it in advance of the annual Hajj and it could be exchanged in the local banks upon arrival for the predetermined amount. The Hajj is an annual Islamic pilgrimage to the holiest city of Mecca, Saudi Arabia and it is a mandatory religious duty for Muslims that must be carried out at least once in their lifetime by all adults who are physically and financially capable of undertaking the journey and can support their family during their absence. In Islamic terminology Hajj is a pilgrimage made to Kaab, the "House of Allah", in the sacred city of Mecca and the rites are performed over five or six days, beginning on the eighth and ending on the thirteenth day of Dhu al-Hijjah, the last month of the Islamic calendar

One of the rarest denominations for the short-lived currency union of Qatar & Dubai being perceived to be just as Rare as the 25 Riyals, this note will make a fascinating addition to any serious collection. While the use of 1, 5, 10 and 100 Riyals proved popular and numbers increased in circulation over the years after the initial release, the 25 and 50 Riyals however decreased and with the initial issued figures being significantly lower than the other denominations not a lot of examples must have survived over the years.

Zanzibar Quarter Riyal AH1299 (1882) KM#2, BritishCommonwealth Coins (1971) Y3, weight 6.80 grammes, a superb example, Sharp GEF or better, the fields lustrous and prooflike with subtle blue and gold toning, displaying only a few minor contact marks, this example superior to the Krause plate example, and also superior to the British Museum example, of the highest rarity, British Commonwealth Coins by Remick states 'only a few specimens known', no prices given in current world catalogues such as Krause and this not surprising as we were unable to find any recorded sales of this type, Baldwin's have twice offered the Gold 2 1/2 Riyals in 2014 (realised £38,000) and in 2008 (realised £26,450) and this silver issue will be of similar scarcity if not rarer
