Crown 1671 Second Bust Variety, R over B in FRA, unlisted by the 1992 ESC, Bull 385, Fine or better, weak in the centre as often on Charles II Crowns, a very clear overstrike. We note that we have listed the 'T over R in FRA' variety on many occasions, (rated R4) but this is the first 'R over B in FRA' variety we have offered, so by statistical analysis we believe that to be a much rarer type with potentially only very small numbers in existence. We note also that it is not listed in the 2024 Standard Catalogue
Halfcrown 1817 Bull Head, S over I in PENSE, unlisted by the 1992 ESC, Bull lists as I over S (?) Bull 2092 and listed as Rarity 3, UNC or very near so with some very minor spots, a crisp strike with choice fields and subtle touches of golden tone in the legends, compares favourably with the Ex-Colin Adams example sold in London Coins Auction A130 5th September 2010 (Lot 1328), a superb piece and fully justifying it's rarity rating, indeed, our archive database stretching back 20 years confirms this is only the third such piece we have offered.

Sixpence 1696 Second Bust Pattern. Obverse: Fine work, a more finely engraved rendition of the Second Bust. MVS lower in GVLIELMVS, the final S lower still. Reverse: Small Crowns with Later harp, die axis inverted, 7 strings to harp. The lower bar of the E of REX very weak (appears RFX unless under magnification), the 9 of the date blocked. Bull 1304, Rarity 6, not listed in the 1992 ESC, but referred to in a footnote on page 148 thus 'There is a Second Bust Sixpence of much finer style in the National Collection. This is undoubtedly a pattern together with the Crown and Halfcrown (ESC 93 and ESC 540) of similar style. This example is the plate coin in the Bull 'English Silver Coinage' 2015 edition. Only 3 examples exist, only 2 being in private hands. This example in an LCGS holder and graded LCGS 30. A highly important piece and a rare opportunity to own such an important coin
Crown 1662 No Rose, No date on edge, die axis upright (en medaille), unlisted by the 1992 edition of ESC, S.3350A, Bull 348, listed as Rarity 5 and lists the type as having 8 Harp strings, VG the harp and part of the reverse worn, an extremely rare variety for the Crown Specialist, only the second we have offered since 2003
Crown 1965 Satin Finish Specimen striking ESC 393O, Bull 4341, Davies 2301M. Excessively rare rated R5 by Bull and R6 by the 1992 ESC. This example in an NGC holder and graded SP67. The NGC Top Population coin, and the finest known example across three major grading companies. At the time of writing, our research has uncovered 11 examples graded by third party grading companies, some entries which may be duplicated. LCGS has graded 4 examples, in grades 82, 88 (2) and 90. PCGS has graded 3 examples, all SP65, and NGC has graded 4 examples SP62, SP64 (2) and this superb SP67 example. The fields display an even shimmering satin lustre, and displaying the die polish lines associated with this type under strong magnification, a key indicator of this excessively rare type. A wonderful example and would be a centrepiece coin in any advanced Crown collection. We note an example of this type sold in London Coins Auction A166 1/9/2019 described as 'nFDC with underlying brilliance' sold for £5500 hammer price

Threepence 1847 with double struck 8 in the date, we assume a business strike. Bull 3374, unlisted by ESC or Davies as a currency coin, so possibly a Maundy issue. ESC (1992) states that there are possibly Colonial issues for this date (Footnote: Page 184) UNC and choice, with toning in an LCGS holder and graded 85
Crown 1821 Uniface trials or electrotypes for both sides of the coin, the reverse slightly convex, struck in silver; The reverse displays a small raised dot on the horse's breast, This ties in with ESC 262 (page 33 1992 edition) which states:- 'a small dot on the horse's body' which 'has not yet been removed' Rayner is referring to a plain edge coin minted the following year exhibiting the same characteristics as this piece. The reverse also missing the streamer, this also referred to in Linecar & Stone 6 on a copper trial (Page 57) where it is stated 'This would appear to be an artist's trial the check the erasion of the streamer' We also note some raised dots on the King's portrait, this would appear to be an intermediate pattern whose design was adopted, albeit with some changes, on the 1821-1822 Currency issues, Both sides NEF with matching dark grey tone, and both sides with full edge inscription as on the currency 1821 issue, an interesting insight into the progression on artists types 1820-1822. A coin of this description with the dot, but with full streamer and dated 1820 was present in the Forster, Marshall, Brice, Lingford, Clarke-Thornhill, Nobleman, Hamilton-Smith, Monagu and Murdochcollections

Halfcrown 1868 Fair, one of the 'missing' dates in the Young Head Halfcrown series, accompanied by a Royal Mint letter, related correspondence, newspaper cutting stating that the owner refused £1700 for the coin the 1968, and photographs taken in 1968, the letter believed to be the letter quoted in the ESC stating that the coin is 'probably genuine', mentioned by way of footnote in ESC by Rayner in the 1992 edition, page 85, these pieces recently reported as unrecorded in the Royal mint striking records, Harrington Manville the famous US numismatist once pointed out to us these so called missing dates were most definitely not struck by the Royal Mint, and this seems now to be the popular opinion
