English Banknotes s Third Issue T18 Dash in No. Black serial number and single prefix A variety recorded only 1 to 40 issue 1918 serial number A/3 156998, Fine - VF with several Pinholes in the body of the note but fairly well kept, presentable and Very Rare now more than a century old note. An interesting inked annotation on the reverse reads "U.D.F to F.U.G / Peace day / 11 Nov 1918" which is indeed the date of the armistice signed at Le Francport near Compiegne that ended fighting on land, sea and air in World War I between the Allies and Germany, also known as the Armistice of Compiegne where it was signed at 5:45 a.m. by the French Marshal Foch and came into force at 11:00 a.m. Paris time on 11 November 1918 and marked a victory for the Allies and a defeat for Germany, although not formally a surrender. It is uncertain if the lettering was made on this exact date but it is very likely as the first issue date for these notes is 22nd October 1918 which puts them at the appropriate time, so this makes a very interesting piece which possibly had and still is bearing a significant historical echo across the decades

English Banknotes Offered Here For Charity - VIP tribute s No. 5 note Merlyn QE II & Sir Edward Elgar B386 Series E Second Historical Series Foil Hologram & Windowed Thread issue 1999 and a First Run Low Non-circulation serial number AA01 000005, about UNC - UNC. According to the lowest possible circulation serial number available of this Series E Historical Twenty Pounds before this offering is AA01 000031. This note from the Governor of the Bank of England in the original anti reflective museum glass frame with a note "From The Governor Of The / Bank of England / Note No. 5 of New Series 1999". It appears the note has not been glued in the frame and is held by precisely placed small holders with a small gap for each corner of the note to be inserted in. It has become a common tradition for the Bank of England to hold back the first printed notes with low or symbolic serial numbers when a new issue is released. Such notes are attributed to dignitaries, royalty and institutions that usually receive or were involved in the development of the new issue, for example Her Majesty the Queen traditionally receives the very first 000001 note, the Churchill War Rooms received the new Churchill 5 Pound note with the end of World War II year serial number AA01 001945, and the Cathedral received the new Polymer 10 Pound note with a serial number AA01 001817 marking the year that Jane Austen was buried there. A number of first run circulation serial numbers, the Bank of England is known to donate in Charity Auctions for various causes and many of these notes are very sought after by collectors and usually realise high figures as for example the very first possible circulation number of the 20 Pounds with serial number AA01 000007 realized £2,100, the first public available Churchill Polymer 5 Pounds serial number AA01 000017 realized £4,150 and the Jane Austen Polymer 10 Pounds AA01 000010 realized £7,200. In regard to this note the serial numbers prior to this one were reportedly donated as follows to H.M. the Queen, the Prime Minister, the Bank of England Governor and the Chancellor.

Each note uniface with a different vignette of a passenger steam train at centre and all feature the reverse of different Latin-n coin as follows - the 7 Pence 1/2 Penny has the 1 Real MO, the 15 Pence - 2 Reals LIMAE and the 1/2 Dollar - a n 4 Reals PTS. These notes were issued in sheets of six with side B on the left and the side A on the right. An interesting historical fact is that the Champlain and St. Lawrence Railroad was the first public railroad in Canada and one of the first railways in North America as we now understand the term, although the country had several tram-roads earlier - at least 2, and it was the first to use steam locomotives with a 14 miles of railway in operation, with the first steam locomotive used at the official opening of the railroad on July 21st 1836.

World Banknotes Reichsschulwaltung REICHSKASSENSCHEIN 5 Mark Pick 1 (Ros. 1) dated 11th July 1874 Series IX. Lit. J Fol. 161 number 0801784, Fair to Good with a 4mm oblong centre hole and numerous other small holes in the main body of the note and an Exceptionally Rare early first series of the notes. Dark blue and grey-blue featuring small cherubs and the Reich Sadler (Imperial Eagle) Coat of Arms this series was issued just 3 years after the unification of various German states into the German Empire. Currency in the already economically powerful regions were dominated by state issued coins and notes mainly of (North German Confederation) and . Even after unification, there was no large demand to unify the currency under a single issuer, as there was a set exchange rate between the coins of each currency. Each state also continued to issue their own currency, thus both supply and demand for this early series was small. It was not until a few series later, after the majority of these notes were already redeemed, when a unified currency became the most popular type in Germany. These issues red in circulation until 30th June 1885. The Population currently holds only 6 examples of this scarce small denomination note although it would be roughly a worker's daily wage as at time it would average between 1.50 and 6 marks.

World Banknotes The of , & Pick 55a ( Illustrated Catalogue of Hong Kong Currency S12, KNB34a) and a very FIRST date for this type 1st July 1931 with 1 printed & 1 hand signed signature serial number T/G 029439, original GVF - about EF and an Exceptionally Rare note especially in this high grade for this very first date of issue. The note in black and red on light red and green underprint featuring a portrait of a helmeted warrior at left and the Royal Coat of Arms at centre on obverse. The reverse with an illustration of rice field farmers at work and pagoda building. Printed by Waterlow & Sons Limited London and watermarked with a helmeted warrior same as on obverse facing left. A very tough to acquire seldom offered example of this early first date for this type and perhaps one of the very few high-grade examples seen if not the highest. According to our research no examples of this date have been offered in grades above VF in fact the Population report indicates only 32 recorded examples of this type at the time of writing with none above Choice VF 35 with the majority between VF20 and VF30, the only 1 highest graded being Choice VF35 EPQ. According to the story this note had been hiding away in a big and old late 1800's book in the possession and gifted to the owner's family from the time of their grandfather and his sister (grandmother). They were based in Chatham and the grandfather was wor for the Navy at the time, serving regular tours to China, Hong Kong and general and the grandfather's sister lived in Hong Kong with her husband who unfortunately passed away in one of Hong Kong's major s after which she returned to the UK. It is uncertain which of the two was the book containing this note gifted to and who had brought it back, but it is certain that this note is a fabulous and Rare find

World Banknotes Seventh issue 5 s Pick 40b Law of 1947 (1955) signature Abdul Ilah Hafiudh serial number F011834 and variety with small head watermark, GVF - EF pressed Exceptionally Rare and widely collected. In red on multicolour featuring the popular thick lips portrait of II as an adolescent at right obverse. The reverse depicting an ancient carving illustrating Hamurabiy yatasallam al-sharia ( receives the Law), Hammurabi (at left) is in conversation with the sun god Shamash. Hammurabi was the King of Babylon between 1792 and 1750 BC and, although not one of the greatest of the Babylonian kings, he is known because of this stele which contains the code of laws. The illustration is adapted from the famous diorite stele, discovered in 1901-02, which contains the laws of Hammurabi . Printed by , Wilkinson & Co. This note is a fine example of the last issue for the National Bank before it became of Iraq. The Iraqi of 1958 lead to monumental change in the rule and administration of Iraq which lead to significant changes in the banknotes circulating in Iraq. Although the Bank's title changed in July 1956 during the last years before the monarchy was overthrown in 1958, the Central Bank's first issued notes were released into circulation on 5th February 1959 (for a full story see ‘The First Bank Notes of Republican Iraq’ in IBNS Journal Volume 44 Number 4).
