Both Crowns UNC and choice and markedly different in terms of striking, the first with an even 'satiny' lustre, the second with the reverse particularly well struck, with a finish similar to a Specimen striking and with superb eye appeal and mirror like fields

MaundyThreepence 1765 ESC 2035, Bull 2257 UNC with just the lightest hint of cabinet friction to the highest points, with a subtle and choice gold and green toning, the rarest date in the entire series and in choice grade make this coin a 'must' for the serious Maundy Money collector, a small planchet clip at 9 o'clock on the reverse adds character and period authenticity. A superb piece, and must surely be one of the finest remaining examples.
MaundyThreepence 1765 ESC 2035, the 5 in the date with traces of an overstrike, extremely rare and rated R5 by ESC, NEF/GVF and nicely struck, with minor haymarks and a small scratch on the obverse. Overall a most pleasing coin and excessively rare We note this coin struck from the same dies as a similar piece in our auction A151 (Lot 2746, graded Good Fine/Fine) which realised £1400 hammer price, this considerably superior and quite possibly one of the finest examples extant, Ex-London Coins Auction A158 9/9/2017 Lot 2342 realised £1600 hammer price
Threepence 1847 with double struck 8 in the date, we assume a business strike. Bull 3374, unlisted by ESC or Davies as a currency coin, so possibly a Maundy issue. ESC (1992) states that there are possibly Colonial issues for this date (Footnote: Page 184) UNC and choice, with toning in an LCGS holder and graded 85
Maundy Set 1772 ESC 2415, Bull 2233 the Threepence with a small depression in the rim at the top, appears to have been caused in the striking NEF to EF lightly toned, the Fourpence with some haymarking, the Threepence with some tone spots
