Sixpence 1821 BBITANNIAR errorESC 1656, Bull 2424 EF nicely toned, the obverse with some scratches, a very rare variety, usually only found in lower grades
Sixpence 1821 BBITANNIAR error, Bull 2424ESC 1656 UNC with very minor cabinet friction to the highest points only, attractively toned with some edge nicks. A very high grade example of this key rarity, usually only encountered in low grades, must surely be one of the finest remaining examples. At the time of writing, NGC and PCGS combined had only graded 4 examples, the finest being MS63, the others in AU55, AU50 and Fine
Sixpence 1821 CGS variety 04 BRITANNIAR, the first R having base crossbar and resembling R/B, but from different dies to the recognized R/B (where the first letter is very weak and the B has been punched over the second letter in error) as in this case both letters are fully struck
Sixpence 1821 First R in BRITANNIAR has full lower serifs, giving the appearance of a BBITANNIAR reading, however when this coin is compared to the recognised BBITANNIAR error the second R is not as clearly a pronounced B the base not being as thick, so offered here as a new variety BBITANNIAR error with thin lower base to second B or BRITANNIAR with second R with base crossbar
