Farthing 1848 Peck 1569 in an LCGS holder and graded LCGS 80, displaying glossy surfaces and considerable original mint lustre. Very seldom encountered in lustrous condition, this borne out by the LCGS Population statistics, which show this is the finest known of 6 examples thus far recorded, our auction archive stretching back to 2003 shows previously offered high grade examples of this date described as having traces of lustre or toned, therefore probably scarcer than catalogues would suggest in truly lustrous grade

Farthing 1848 Reverse C. Shows characteristics of Reverse B coupled with the die flaw by Britannia's arm from Reverse A. B in BRITANNIAR has both serifs, although the lower serif is longer. An important coin linking the evolution of the die types, Obverse with 9 teeth date spacing, CGS Variety 11 the only example for this date thus far recorded by the CGS Population Report, discovered by a combination of the vendor and the cataloguer, EF with a couple of small spots, in a CGS Yellow Ticket holder 'Verdigris EF' (see also the 1848 coin with this reverse type)
