Penny 1920 Freeman 188 dies 2+B UNC with very good lustre and a few light contact marks, very slight streakiness only and seldom so pleasing for this date
Penny 1860 Beaded Border Freeman 8A dies 1*+A rated R19 by Freeman (2-5 examples believed to exist), About mint state with subdued lustre, with some slight signs of flan stress in the fields, and unusually a rough flattening on the rim near BRITT suggesting signs of a planchet clip, exceptionally rare, especially so in this high grade
Penny 1863 Open 3 in date unlisted by Freeman, Gouby 1863B, Satin 46, the variety confirmed by the 3 having a curved downward diagonal stroke, the 2003 census in the Satin catalogue states 6 specimens recorded VF/GVF the finest we have offered of this rare variety
Halfpenny 1799 GiltPatternPeck 1221 KH11 Obverse with Crowned Bust of George III with small crown, Reverse with italic style k with three dots on the truncation, a triangle of dots on the rock at the right, the shield having a bevelled edge with no raised rim, an extremely rare pattern, seldom seen, sharp nFDC with a few light hairlines
Penny 1863 3 over 1 Gouby BP1863Aa dies J+g with the top of the underlying 1 showing at the top right of the 3 Fine and the clearest example we have seen of this very rare type
Penny 1862 struck on a thick flan of 11.32 grammes. Freeman notes that 1860 and 1861 coins have been recorded weighing 11.35 grammes. The coin though only in Fair grade appears struck from dies 6+G, unrecorded by Freeman, Peck, Gouby, Satin or Spink and highly unusual
Penny 1861 Freeman 28 dies 5+G Fine/Good Fine with surface marks and green patina through having been underground, rated R18 by Freeman, we note that there was no example in the Roland Harris or Andrew Wayne collections
Halfpenny 1861 Freeman 272 dies 4+F (R17) A/UNC and with some lustre, some striking weakness on the shield and a striking flaw on the portrait, we note there was no example in the Nicholson collection or the Roland Harris collection, this superior to the Andrew Wayne collection example which realised £380 hammer price in June 2006
Penny 1831 .W.W on truncation Peck 1458 EF with chocolate tone and some light contact marks on the obverse, much rarer than stated by Peck, our records indicate this is only the second example we have handled, and by far the finest, we note a Good VF example sold for £150 hammer price in LCA 117 in June 2007
Halfpenny 1729 Peck 830 sharply struck UNC with glossy fields and traces of lustre, with much eye appeal and having the appearance of an early striking
Penny 1863 Open 3 in date unlisted by Freeman, Gouby 1863B, Satin 46, the variety confirmed by the 3 having a curved downward diagonal stroke, the 2003 census in the Satin catalogue states 6 specimens recorded approaching Fine with some old heavy contact marks in the reverse field above Britannia

Halfpenny 1861 appears to read HALP for HALF unlisted by Freeman or Peck, Fine with the reverse better, the finest of three examples of this rare type we have so far offered. We note that there was no example in the Nicholson collection. (a similar coin described as 'only Fair with many surface knocks and dents' sold in our June 2010 sale for £198.90 inclusive of buyers premium)
Penny 1858 8 over 2, this variety previously thought to be 8 over 3 with die cracks through the top half and bottom half of all four digits of the date, recent research has stated this is more likely to be 8 over 2, indeed this coin shows a small part of the point of the 2 at the bottom left of the 8. Recent research suggest that this die only had a short working life (Source: Michael Gouby, article Spink Numismatic Circular May 2010 pages 72-73) this example UNC or near so with around 80% lustre on the obverse, the reverse with around 20% lustre and with minor cabinet friction and a couple of small spots, very rare in this grade
Halfpenny 1839 Bronzed Proof as Peck 1523 but with 39 over 43 in the date, these produced from an altered 1843 die for use in the 1839 Proof sets which were issued to order until the mid 1840s, by which time the 1839 Halfpenny die was worn out , UNC with some hairline scratches in the fields
Halfpenny 1875 Freeman 322A dies 13+J VF or better with some surface marks on the portrait, rated R17 by Freeman, we note that the example in the Andrew Wayne collection described as 'NEF cleaned' sold for £480 hammer price, we also note that there was no example in either the Nicholson or Roland Harris collections
Penny 1860 Toothed Border Freeman 10 dies 2+D, Gouby BP 1860 Jd, with triple-struck F in F:D:, in addition this has a die rotation of around 15 degrees GEF/AU with traces of lustre
Penny 1888 as Freeman 126 dies 12+N with both I's in VICTORIA with top left serifs missing UNC with almost full lustre and a small striking flaw on the obverse rim
Penny 1807 Restrike Proof in Bronzed Copper Peck 1354 R98 with plain edge Toned UNC with some hairlines in the fields and clearly exhibiting the die rust spots of the portrait associated with this issue
Penny 1860 Toothed Border as Freeman 10 dies 2+D with the first T of BRITT triple-struck each striking being progressively lower, the second T of BRITT double struck, the R of REG open at the top, and the O of VICTORIA double punched on the top half only, Lustrous UNC or near so, the reverse displaying three long die cracks, an unusual piece
Penny 1873 Freeman 64 dies 6+G Gouby BP1873 Ae date covers 12 border teeth, also with D of D:G: open at the top and bottom, the D of F:D: very weak at top and bottom possibly struck from a defective punch, Lustrous UNC
Halfpenny 1861 Freeman 274 dies 5+E LCW on rock AU/GEF and nicely toned displaying the usual striking flaw found on many specimens of Obverse 5, we note that there was no example in the Nicholson collection
Halfpenny 1861 Freeman 278 dies 7+D (R16) About VF with some surface nicks, very rare, we note that there was no example of this type in the Nicholson collection
Penny 1877 Freeman 91 dies 9+J Gouby BP1877Bc Large Date with 13 teeth from the 1 to the foot of the 7, an interesting piece showing the same curved line from the left of the exergue to a position under the 8 of the date, further study will tell if this is always the case with this die pairing, (see pictures Page 72 'The British Bronze Penny' specialised edition by Michael Gouby) UNC with good subdued lustre with underlying tone and some contact marks on the portrait
Halfpenny 1790 Pattern by DrozPeck 955 DH6 in Brown Gilt edge RENDER TO CESARS etc. GEF with some friction on the high points of the gilt, a test scratch in the reverse field by Britannia's outstretched arm
