Blythen, CheshireRegiment, NEF to EF cleaned, Andrew Blythen was born 11/11/1865 at Wrexham, He served 24 years with the Cheshire Regiment and was discharged for pension 4/4/1909. When World War I broke out he offered his services, and first saw service with the 8th Bn. Cheshire Regiment as shown on the 1918 Army list. The 1919 list shows him as a Captain employed with Dispersal Unit on the Territorial Force General List. He was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal by Army Order 217 in 1939. Special Reserve Long Service and Good Conduct Medal - George V, awarded to 7946 Pte. W. Helbert 3/L'Pool Regiment. EF with some hairlines. The medal was awarded to NCO's and men of the Special Reserve on completion of 15 Years service and attended 15 camps. Awarded between 1908 and 1936, 428 of the Edward VII type and 650 of the George V type were produced.
