02/12/2019 Auction 167	World Banknotes	Lot 1616	Scotland The Commercial Bank of Scotland Limited Fourteenth and Final Bradbury Wilkinson issue 1 Pound Pick S336 (PMS CO66, BY SC406) dated 2nd January 1954 serial number 27C 573 789 and bearing signature Ian Macdonald titled General Manager. A very handsome and eye-catching design mainly in blue on multicolour underprint with the obverse featuring a portrait of Lord Cockburn one of the Bank's first Directors at upper right and Allegorical female bust at lower centre flanked by thistle plants and 2 Allegorical figures representing Agriculture and Maritime shipping. The reverse in blue featuring a large panel with the Bank's Coat of Arms with a seated Maritime Allegorical female figure on top and flanked by 2 Griffins and thistle plants. Printed by Bradbury, Wilkinson & Co. Ld. New Malden, Surrey, England imprinted in small script at lower centre obverse and watermarked with the same female bust as on obverse. A fresh and crisp GVF example of the very last issue for the bank before the merger with the National. More banknotes like this	£20
