James Cook and the New Zealand's Coat of Arms, the reverses with a Kiwi bird and the Waitangi Treaty signing on the 10 Shillings and an illustration of Sailing ship on the 1 Pound. Both watermarked with a native Maori Chieftain's bust.

The note in blue on red and yellow underprint with the obverse featuring the Bank's Coat of Arms at centre, portrait of Henry Schomberg Kerr the 9th Marquess of Lothian to left, view of Edinburgh Castle at right. The reverse with an elaborate guilloche panel with an illustration of Edinburgh city view at centre flanked by numerical value. Printed by Waterlow & Sons Limited, London, England.
