Copper and bronze die varieties (10) Pennies (4) Ornamental Trident, the colon after DEF low and slanting to the right, Fine, Penny 1854 Plain Trident the 4 overstruck, does not appear to be over a 3 as the underlying figure is incomplete, Fine or better, Penny 1967 with missing waves to the left of the lighthouse EF, Penny 1967 struck on a thin flan and weighing only 6.41 grammes Fine, Halfpennies (4) 1723 with the top of the 3 missing and so now resembling a 5, NF/VG, 1855 with traces of an overstrike on the first 5 of the date, the underlying figure unclear VF, 1875 Freeman 321 dies 11+J with signs of die damage in the form of raised dots on the coin VG, Halfpenny 1887 Fine on a spread flan of 29.5mm, Farthings (3) James II Tin issue with copper plug, worn, 1890 GEF with silver colouring and traces of gold tone in the legends, weight 2.9 grammes, 1875 as Freeman 528 dies 3+B with a number 1-shaped flaw between the 8 and 7 of the date. Fine/Near Fine. An interesting group and worthy of further research
Penny and Halfpenny Varieties - Pennies (2) 1843 REG: Peck 1486, Bramah 3b DFF error the error E not having the top or base serifs, VG Rare, the obverse with long thin scratches and an edge nick, Rare, 1880 8 over 8 to left Gouby BP1880Af, an attempt has been made to repair the second 8 in the date. The preliminary test strike was inaccurate and shows to the left of the second 8 with a small piece of that test strike also visible in the bottom centre of the lower original 8, About Fine with some, unusual with very few examples recorded, Halfpenny 1699 Date in legend, Unbarred first A in BRITANNIA the second unclear, Peck 684/685 About VG on a pitted flan, both types are rare, along with Halfpennies (56) 1694, William III date worn, 1721, 1753, 1806 (3), 1838, 1843, 1853 (2), 1854, 1855 (2), 1856, 1860 Toothed Border, 1861, 1862 (2), 1870, 1888, 1925 Modified Effigy, 1937 (8), 1938, 1948, 1949 (3), 1950 (2), 1952 (2), 1953 (3), 1955, 1956 (3), 1957 (2), 1958 (5), 1959 (3) in mixed grades with many 20th Century lustrous, along with a further group of Pennies Victorian Bun Heads (90) these include 1871 VG, Penny 1917 EF and Italy 10 Centesimi 1866 VG
Florins to Halfpennies a small group with some varieties (14) Florins (2) 1858 No stop after date, 1875 Die Number 37, Shillings (6) 1817 RRITT and unbarred H in HONI, 1820 Large 0 in date, 1853, 1875 Die Number 1, 1879 Die Number 1, 1879, Sixpence 1819 with broken 9 in date, Groat 1848 8 over 6, Pennies (2) 1862 Low 2 in date, 1882 Large H in date, Penny 1902 with portrait and Britannia frosted Proof or Proof-like About EF with a lamination mark on the portrait, Halfpennies (2) 1770 No Stop after REX, 1773 contemporary counterfeit No Stop after REX struck slightly off-centre, in mixed lower grades
