Pennies (2) 1862 Freeman 39 dies 6+G, the 2 of the date distant from the 6 with a date spacing of 13 border teeth, wider than the date spacing found on the 2 over 1 coin (see illustration Gouby, Specialised Edition page 45) VF with green patina, 1875 Freeman 82 dies 8+J NVF

EF with two long scratches on the obverse, nevertheless a very clear and high grade example of this rarity
Penny 1918H Freeman 183 dies 2+B, GEF with around 40% lustre, a very pleasing high grade example of the Heaton Mint type, very scarce in this high grade, in an LCGS holder and graded LCGS 70

Shilling 1674 Plume below bust and in centre of the reverse, No Stop after HIB, ESC 1040, Bull 526 Fine, an evenly struck example, and very rare, our archive database stretching back to 2003 shows we have only offered 3 examples, in the same time period we have offered 6 examples of the 4 over 3 variety from the same date, so possibly rarer than catalogue values might suggest
Shilling 1687 7 over 6 ESC 1072, Bull 769 EF or very near so with some light haymarking, a well struck example with excellent bust detail and rare thus
Shilling 1838 ESC 1278, Bull 2973, UNC, the obverse with very minor cabinet friction to the high points only, excellent surfaces virtually free from contact marks further enhanced by an even gold and olive tone, a choice example

Shilling 1944 English, Specimen striking, unlisted by ESC, Davies or Bull who all list VIP Proofs. The fields superior to the currency pieces but lacking the frosting associated with the VIP Proofs of the period. The appearance is not dissimilar to Polished die coins. 5.64 grammes, UNC and lustrous, the specimen strikings said to be rarer than the VIP Proofs. We note a pair of 1966 English and Scottish Specimen Shillings (Lots 1888 and 1889) in similar grades sold in London Coins Auction A161 3/6/2018 for £500 and £680 hammer price respectively
Shillings (2) 1685 a flaw thought the 5 of the date gives the impression of 5 over 4, as ESC 1068, Bull 760 VG with a thin scratch on both lower quarters on the reverse, 1688 ESC 1073, Bull 771 VG with some scratches, the edge filed, rare

Sixpence 1862 Large Date, type as ESC 1711, Bull 3207 UNC and lustrous with an attractive golden tone, some very minor hairlines in the obverse field and an edge nick by the V of VICTORIA, the reverse choice. A key date Victorian rarity, with the large date accounting for only a small percentage of the overall mintage and by far the rarer type for this date, the two date sizes not differentiated by ESC, Bull or Davies. We note also that only two examples of the large date type have been graded by LCGS, the finest being LCGS 65, which realised £700 hammer price when auctioned in LCA A170 September 6th 2010

Sovereign 1859 'Ansell' type, Marsh 42A, S.3852E, with the additional line on the ribbon behind the ear, Fine/Good Fine, the reverse cleaned with some deeper hairlines causing a depression in the field either side of the crown and shield, viewing recommended. One of the key rarities of the entire Sovereign series, rated R4 by Marsh, the rarity of this type fully justified, many advanced Sovereign collections are missing this extremely rare type.
