Post War 1 Pick 43a (BY GU33a) and first date of issue 1st August 1945 serial number 3/E 0642 bearing the signature of H.E. Marquand titled Treasurer and the note in purple on green underprint featuring St. Peter Port and Castle Cornet (also known as Cornet Rock or Castle Rock) at upper centre on obverse and reverse in Green featuring Guernsey's Seal on a guilloche panel. Printed by Perkins Bacon Limited London inscribed in small script at lower centre on reverse. VF - GVF pressed and Scarce. The importance of Castle Cornet was as a defence not only of the Island, but of the roadstead. It became part of one of the breakwaters of St Peter Port's harbour, the main one in the island, in 1859. It was first fortified as a castle between 1206 and 1256, following the division of the Duchy of Normandy in 1204
