World War I1914 Star awarded to 6588 Pte.W.McDermott 2nd Connaught Rangers. with copy 'Mons' clasp. NEF. Pte. McDermott was killed in action France on 14/9/1914, probably at the battle of Aisne where the battalion sustained heavy losses. The battalion was disbanded a short time later after suffering unsustainable losses.
