Palm branch, ESC 444, Ex-Slaney Collection I Spink Auction 3024, 15/5/2003 Lot 61, to paraphrase the Slaney description:- 'Notwithstanding ESC, the TRVTH AND PIECE reading is the rarer of the two inscribed edge varieties found on Blondeau pattern Halfcrowns and the R3, R2 rating of ESC 443 and 444 should probably be transposed. The Blondeau patterns in the Slaney collection were acquired from Baldwin (in 1944) as one purchase'
