LiverpoolShipwreck group of 8 medals to Captain Robert Capper, comprising Liverpool Shipwreck and Humane Society medals (2) in silver and gold, Spanish Life Saving Medals (one gold), a Lloyd's Medal for Saving Life, a Distinguished Service Cross, George V type, in silver, hallmarked, a Mercantile Marine medal, in bronze, RoyalNaval Reserve Decoration in silver, hallmarked, World War I 1914-1918 Medal. EF to GEF three with boxes. 'The Balmes' a cargo steamer of 3794 tons left Havana on 5/11/1913 bound for Cadiz and Barcelona, she had 103 passengers and 55 crew on board with a cargo of cotton and rum. A fire was discovered on board and an SOS was answered by Captain Capper of the 'Pannonia' which was bound for New York, arriving on the scene on Thursday, the day after the fire was discovered. The passengers were evacuated successfully. The ship then escorted the burning ship to Bermuda before resuming her journey to New York. During World War I, Captain Capper had been in command of S.S. Ausonia and was torpedoed 600 miles from the nearest port. 7 boats were launched, 5 survived the hazardous journey back to Liverpool. The DSC was awarded on 7/8/1918. Lennon & Co., Ltd were a chemist and druggist business in Port Elizabeth established in 1850 by Barry Grey Lennon, an Irish chemist and nephew of the Governor of Cape of Good Hope - Sir George Grey. Their shops were to be found in most major towns in Cape Province, Natal, Orange Free State and Transvaal. In 1894 they became the first commercial pharmacy in Bulawayo and on 29th December 1898, Lennon Limited became a registered company. By 1930 the company had become the largest pharmaceutical business in the southern hemisphere and in the decades to follow Lennon Ltd was amalgamated by the South African Druggists group in an consolidation effort, then in 1968 South African Druggist joined the Johannesburg Stock Exchange and in 1999 it was acquired by Aspen in 1999 through a hostile takeover worth 2.4 million Rand which operates to this day and is the largest drug company in Africa.

Sovereign 1908C (Ottawa Mint) Satin FinishS.3970 in a PCGS holder and graded SP61. One of the rarest Sovereigns in the entire series. See Notes in Marsh pages 81-83. Great Britain, Sunderland, Sir James Laing and Sons Limited Preference Share Certificate for 100 shares at £10 (shares number 101 to 200) issued 21st January 1899, Number 2, red and orange, to Sir James Laing of Thorncliffe (son of the founder Phillip Laing 1770-1854), and Ordinary Share Certificate for 100 shares at £10 (numbered 1308-1407) 21st January 1899, green and yellow, to Mr. Arthur Laing, this cross cancelled by hand 9th September 1904. Both certificates About UNC and unique items. James Laing took over the business from his father Phillip Laing in 1843 aged just 20 . The business prospered and subsequently became the first shipyard on the Wear to build iron ships, the first the 'Amity' being launched in 1853. The most famous ship, built in Deptford, was the Torrens in 1875. The novelist Joseph Conrad sailed on this ship as the second mate between 1891 and 1893. James Laing went on the be knighted in 1897, the following year the company was renamed Sir James Laing & Sons Ltd. Comes with copies of images the shipyard and of Phillip Laing, the founder, and of Sir James Laing. A most interesting group of great interest to shipping enthusiasts.

In a PMG holder and graded Very Fine 25 Annotations. One of the rarest denominations for the short-lived currency union of Qatar & Dubai being perceived to be just as Rare as the 25 Riyals, this note will make a fascinating addition to any serious collection. While the use of 1, 5, 10 and 100 Riyals proved popular and numbers increased in circulation over the years after the initial release, the 25 and 50 Riyals however decreased and with the initial issued figures being significantly lower than the other denominations not a lot of examples must have survived over the years.

The variety beyond dispute and this example quite possibly one of the finest examples in existence, we note we have handled only 5 other examples since 2003, we also note this is superior to the example in the Laurie BamfordCollection sold in 2006 described as 'Fair', hence a rare opportunity for the advanced collector of the key varieties in this series
