Two Pounds 1887 Pattern from Proof dies - a very rare trial piece struck from a unique Obv. die. The legend arrangement is similar to the standard proof dies, but the 'BRITT' is now at its highest known point above the crown and the 'R' and 'E' of 'Reg' do not touch as on all other 1887 Two Pounds. The crown supporter has 8 small pearls, not 7 larger ones as on other Proof and currency types, the uppermost pearls, merge with the sides of the crown orb. The coin has a thin obverse rim, with the bust now enlarged to accommodate this feature, whereas the reverse has the usual and inconsistent thick rim. The '8 pearls' obverse remains an unpublished pattern struck from Proof dies. Recent research by David Iverson has theorised that no more than 350 of these pieces were minted, compared to a total reported calendar year mintage of 91,345 pieces , AU/UNC with some hairlines and minor contact marks, retaining attractive and reflective fields on both sides.

Crown 1935 Raised Edge Proof with edge lettering in the wrong order. Edge reads DECUS ANNO REGNI ET TUTAMEN XXV, ESC 380, Bull 3657 nFDC attractively toned, with one small nick on St. George, the portrait and St. George retaining original frosting. Comes in the red box of issue, and the finest we have offered of this key rarity. A superb example of this stunning error edge Crown, rated R5 by ESC (5-10 examples believed to exist) and thus rarer than the 1935 Gold Proof Crown of which 25 were issued, which when offered fetches in the region of £60,000 to £80,000. This coin missing from many advanced Crown collections, and would make a welcome addition to any high quality Collection of Silver Crowns
Halfcrown 1927 Second Reverse ProofESC 776, Bull 3732 FDC in an LCGS holder and graded LCGS 94, the finest known of 49 examples thus far recorded by the LCGS Population Report, formerly in an NGC holder and graded PF66, the NGC ticket no longer with the coin, Ex-London Coins Auction A126 September 2009 Lot 1615, hammer price £170. When auctioned in September 2009 the coin was the finest known of 10 examples, in the intervening 12 years a further 39 examples have been graded and this has yet to be beaten
Halfcrown 1853 ProofESC 687, Bull 2736 UNC the obverse with some very minor contact marks and the coin has been cleaned. 14.12 grammes. Ex LCA 163 lot 633 realised £5,000 hammer price. A very rare issue and seldom offered in any grade with this example being just the second one we have seen since 2003.

From a die originally intended for a run of patterns but never used for this purpose. Only 25 milled edge Silver Proofs were minted nFDC with blue and gold tone (Ex LCA 129 lot 1260 realised £160 hammer)
Crown 1935 Incuse edge Proof in .500 Silver. ESC 377A (R6). The edge legend on this type is much less sharply defined than on the specimen Crown of this year. The edge itself is sharper and gives the impression of being somewhat broader than the 1935 Specimen Crown. The fields are distinguished by a more mirror-like finish and display a superior strength of detail and strike. nFDC with a pleasant mottled green and gold tone. Excessively Rare and possibly the finest known example. Note: This specimen is superior to the E D J. Van Roekel Collection (lot 259) example sold by Spink (15.12. 2001) and considerably better than a specimen sold by Morton and Eden (sale 2.12.2009 lot 263) described as ‘somewhat impaired by past polishing, with minor edge bruises and surface marks, about extremely fine.? This last piece achieved an auction price of £1600 plus buyers premium.
