Examples of the medal were distributed to the inhabitants of the Pacific Islands during the second voyage of mariner and explorer Captain James Cook. The logs of the Resolution and the Adventure record more than 30 places where the distribution took place, and examples mostly appear in a worn and weathered state
Rowing Medals to W.J.Fernie (2) University CambridgeTrial Eights Winning Crew 1895 , 51mm diameter in silver by D.Munsey/Peters of Cambridge, in half lunette-style presentation holder , boxed, with old white toning, suggesting once fully encased, the case with a shield-shaped plaque with inscription of the crew, and weights of the crew, and positions in the boat. W.J.Fernie is shown as Stroke position. The final elimination trial for rowers for entrance into the Cambridge Boat Race Crew for the historic University Boat Race. This is the only time prior to the Boat Race that the crews race over the full 4 1/4 mile Putney to Mortlake course. These race were contested intra-University Oxford v. Oxford and Cambridge v. Cambridge to decide the final crews. The Race still takes place today, although the medal prize has been replaced by the award of sponsored clothing and equipment to the competitors. Hanoverian Medal for Waterloo 1815 awarded to Soldat Ludwig Schnat, Landwehr Battalion, Hameln. VF with some surface marks and edge nicks. Commanded by Major Von Strube, the Battalion was part of the 5th British Infantry Division under the command of Lieutenant General Sir Thomas Picton, who was the highest ranking allied casualty at Waterloo, and one of two MPs to be killed at Waterloo. The medal was authorised by the Prince Regent on behalf of his father George III in his capacity as Elector of Hanover and this was conferred on survivors of the battle.

The bishops were committed to the Tower for opposing the edicts of James II
Austria Medallic Show Thaler - 1683 Battle of Vienna 45mm diameter in silver, commemorating the Liberation of Vienna from Turkish siege, the defeat of the Turks and the relief of Vienna by Jahann III Sobieki of Poland. Obverse: An imperial double eagle brandishing a sword and sceptre atop a globe showing a map of Vienna. The sun rises above while crescent moon sinks below. Rev: The reverse has an 18 line legend describing how the Polish KingJohn III Sobieski, with 20,000 troops, relieved the Turkish siege of Vienna in 1683 and drove them back to the Raab, and thereby freed Hungary. By leading the decisive Polish cavalry charge himself, Sobieski was acclaimed the hero of Christendom. UNC or near so and attractively toned, Cataloguers note: On researching this piece other examples were noted showing minor varieties in parts of the design, including the number of points around the sun and the date being shown as 1683 rather than MDCLXXXIII as shown here. We were able to find only three other examples all showing these minor differences, one being sold for $1600 hammer price in an internet auction.
