South AfricaReserve Bank issues 1930-40s to 1960's (18) a fabulous selection of various denominations from a turbulent period in the history of the country, opened with the parliament’s bitterly contested decision to enter World War II and rocked by various political turmoil and social resistance campaigns. Mostly circulated but well preserved in average VF-GVF some higher EF/about UNC. Comprising a group of 1 Pounds bearing the signatures of Postmus and de Kock with the different date varieties and some consecutive year examples from the recorded dates (12) consisting of Postmus Pick 84c (4) dates and serial numbers as follows - 28th November 1934 signature Postmus serial number A/42 991818, 30th November 1935 serial number A/50 168977, 26th April 1938 serial number A/75 069208 and 29th April 1939 serial number A/89 529729. Along with de Kock (8) including Pick 84e (5) dates and serials as listed - 7th September 1940 serial number A/96 449929, 10th April 1941 serial number A/107 801202, 2nd November 1942 serial number A/126 418169, 7th April 1943 - A/131 959483 and 15th September 1944 - A/143 481222. Along with Pick 84f (3) - 1st November 1945 serial number A/151 536050, 12th November 1946 serial number A/164 361821 and 8th April 1947 serial number A/167 963181. Also, a consecutively numbered pair of the 1 RandPick 103a ND 1961 signature de Kock (2) serial numbers A/13 620071 & A/13 620072. Along with 5 Pond / Pounds Pick 96c dated 13th November 1958 serial number C/67 668874 signature de Kock variety with Bank title and value text first lines in English. Together with a selection of 10 Ponds / Pounds (3) including the Rare Pick 87 dated 19th April 1943 serial number F/2 413510 along with Pick 99 signature de Kock variety with Bank title and value text first lines in Afrikaans (2) including a 14th September 1955 BINARY serial number D/3 777373 and 14th September 1955 serial number D/3 174027. A very collectible group certain to attract a significant amount of attention
South Africa Republic Anglo-Boer WarGouvernements Noot 1 Pond/Pound The Velde (field note) Pick 66 (Ineson 110) with 2 manuscript signatures -Acting Auditor-General A.P.Brugman and the Acting Treasurer-General P.R.de Villiers, manuscript dated 1st May 1902 number 59 791A, VG Paper repairs and an interesting early issue. Black on white paper with blue horizontal lines and features a crude South African Republic Coat of Arms to left obverse, later to become the symbol of the Transvaal Province.
Suriname Central Bank & Government modern issues circa 1980's and 1990's (389) in 4 consecutively numbered bundles. Comprising Government 2 and 1/2 GuldenPick 119 L. 08.04.1960 / 01.11.1985 signature title 'Minister van Financiën en Planning' in 3 bundles prefixes H/4 and V/4. Each note in red-brown, light blue and multicolour featuring a blue-grey Tanager bird (Thraupis episcopus) on obverse and a green Iguana and Afobaka dam, Brokopondo District. Along with a bundle of Central Bank 5 Guldens Pick 136b dated 1st December 1996 serial numbers AH202601 through AH202700, and each note deep blue and green on multicolour underprint with log trucks at upper left and the Central Bank building at centre on obverse and Toucan bird (Ramphastidae) and logging scene on reverse, printed by Thomas De La Rue and Company limited and watermarked Toucan. Almost if not all notes in original fresh and crisp UNC
South AfricaReserve Bank 10 Pounds / PondPick 98 dated with the last date of issue for this type 19th November 1958 serial number D/4 436795 signature Dr. M. H. de Kock and first line of Bank name and value in English variety. The note in brown-violet on multicoloured underprint with the obverse displaying a portrait of Jan van Riebeeck with surrounding wildlife and agricultural products at left and a female with child at right. The reverse displaying an illustration of a mining site. Crisp VF or slightly better minor pinholes and marginal tears which do not extend to the main design, not jeopardizing the note's general appearance, and a meaningful condition considering very few survivors of this note are seen in high grades
World a varied group from a multitude of countries, including earlier types such South Africa Governments Een Pond (2), in mixed grades, generally from circulation but including British Armed Forces One Pound 4th series (100) estimated by weight to be around 250 pieces
