China - Banque Industrielle De Chine 1914-17 "Tientsin" Issue 5 DollarsPick S399 (S/M#C254-2b) place of issue - TIENTSIN overprinted in black, 2 manuscript signatures series B 1914 number 091838, the 1914 supposedly because of the issue date, however hand stamped with 25th October 1917 at centre obverse, in a PMG holder graded Choice Fine 15 NET Ink Burn. This is an Extraordinarily Rare note especially in issued format due to the extremely successful note redemption rate nearing 100%, in fact its so Rare that the current SCWPM records this and the higher denominations from the series only as SPECIMENS and this is the ONLY issued example recorded on the PMG Population Report at the time of writing. A very attractive design as expected from Bradbury Wilkinson & Co., London in blue on multicolour featuring guilloche panels with values in Chinese and English along with 2 statues of what appear to be Chinese mythological creatures at lower centre left and right on obverse, also the text at centre in a mix of English, French and Chinese. The reverse in violet on multicolour with what appears to be an illustration of the popular Temple of Heaven in its methodical Confucian design. The temple originally served as a vast stage for solemn rites performed by the emperor (the literal 'Son of Heaven'), who prayed there for good harvests at winter solstice and sought divine clearance and atonement. Since 1918 this private imperial domain has opened its gates to the public and is a poplar site where people perform daily taichi, twirl on gymnastic bars and sing revolutionary songs. The Rarity of this note makes it a real treat for any collector and most likely to be missing from even the utmost advanced collections. In contrast, online research shows none of this denomination offered with only 1 of the same type currently in the collection of the National Museum of American History and only the 10 Dollars denomination of the same type offered in recent times

ScotlandBank of Scotland 100 Pounds Bradbury & Evans Colour Trial ESSAY/SPECIMEN circa 1880 Pick NL (PMS BA78) ND circa 1880, UNC Exceptionally Rare and unusual for the time. Uniface large-sized note printed by lithography in 4 colour variations - 2 variations in red, 1 in olive-green and 1 in purple, this example is of the green-olive type. According to Douglas, these were produced in 1880 when the Bank embarked on a period of extensive research into methods to prevent forgery. Some changes were made to the earlier plate but there is no record of who the engraver was and no mention of these notes can be found in the Bank's records. A Scarce and pleasing example that would do a great addition to any collection

IraqNational Bank Seventh issue 5 Dinars Pick 40b Law of 1947 (1955) signature Abdul Ilah Hafiudh serial number F011834 and variety with small head watermark, GVF - EF pressed Exceptionally Rare and widely collected. In red on multicolour featuring the popular thick lips portrait of King Faisal II as an adolescent at right obverse. The reverse depicting an ancient carving illustrating Hamurabiy yatasallam al-sharia (King Hammurabi receives the Law), Hammurabi (at left) is in conversation with the sun god Shamash. Hammurabi was the King of Babylon between 1792 and 1750 BC and, although not one of the greatest of the Babylonian kings, he is known because of this stele which contains the code of laws. The illustration is adapted from the famous diorite stele, discovered in 1901-02, which contains the laws of Hammurabi . Printed by Bradbury, Wilkinson & Co. This note is a fine example of the last issue for the National Bank before it became Central Bank of Iraq. The Iraqi revolution of 1958 lead to monumental change in the rule and administration of Iraq which lead to significant changes in the banknotes circulating in Iraq. Although the Bank's title changed in July 1956 during the last years before the monarchy was overthrown in 1958, the Central Bank's first issued notes were released into circulation on 5th February 1959 (for a full story see ‘The First Bank Notes of Republican Iraq’ in IBNS Journal Volume 44 Number 4).

The reverse with an elaborate orange and green guilloche panel featuring the Royal Coat of Arms at centre. Printed by Bradbury Wilkinson & Co this is an example of the last series notes from the Pound system before Bermuda converted into dollars.

L. Knight and held it between 1977 to 1984 and here the portrait of H.M. the Queen is crowned with a different style tiara and now facing forward. Bermuda Government British Administration 1 Pound dated 2nd December 1914, serial number in red 008547, P1, PMG 25 VERY FINE. An extremely rare piece, black on green underprint with arms at left on obverse. This is the first ever 1 Pound note issued in Bermuda and the only one to be printed by the American Banknote Company, Ottawa as the following later denominations were printed by British printers, mostly Waterlow & Sons and Bradbury & Wilkinson & Co. In 1882, the local 'legal tender act' demonetized the gold doubloon, which had in effect been the real standard in Bermuda, and this left pounds, shillings, and pence as the sole legal tender. The British pound sterling then remained the official currency of Bermuda until 1970. In 1920, 5 shilling notes were introduced, followed by 10 shillings in 1927 and 5 pounds in 1941. The 5 shilling note ceased production in 1957, with 10 pound notes introduced in 1964. It was finally decided to take the action that British Honduras had already done 85 years earlier. In line with the international trend towards decimalization, Bermuda introduced a new currency in the form of a dollar that was fixed at an equal value to the US dollar. The new Bermuda dollars operated in conjunction with decimal fractional coinage, hence ending the pounds, shillings, and pence system in that colony in the year before it was ended in the United Kingdom itself. The decision to finally align with the US dollar was at least in part influenced by the devaluation of sterling in 1967 and Bermuda's increasing tendency to keep its reserves in US dollars. Although Bermuda changed to a U.S. based currency and changed the bulk of its reserves from sterling to U.S. dollars in 1970, it still nevertheless remained a member of the sterling area since at that time, the pound sterling and the US dollar had a fixed exchange rate of £1 = $2.40. The design makes it a bit of an outlier as it does not feature any royal portraits.
Iran - Imperial Bank of Persia 2 Tomans P12 - issued 1924 to 1932, this piece stamped on obverse across centre in black as follows from top of banknote - Arabic writing, 8th September 1924, oval seal - Arabic writing and stars with lion at centre, "PAYABLE at BUSHIRE ONLY" hence the redemption place is Bushire, serial number B/P 020,211 in black at all four quadrants of the reverse, Signatures: V.L. Walter & M.Murrey, PMG 25 VERY FINE and on of the earlier issued examples. Rare denomination due to the "2" denomination not being popular in Persia at the time, hence reducing its issuance. Iraq 1/4 Dinar Government of Iraq Pick 7e L. 1931 (1935) series G 998,719 signed Lord Kennet & Ata Amin portrait King Ghazi in military uniform printed by Bradbury Wilkinson New Malden, Fine with stains, pinholes and faint pencilled numbers. King Faisal died in Geneva on 7 September 1933 from a heart attack. He was forty-eight years old. Faisal was succeeded by his son, Ghazi ibn Faisal who was twenty-one at the time of his accession. In recognition of the new monarch, the Currency Board introduced a series of bank notes with a portrait of the young king.
