Newark Bank 1 Pound dated 11th March 1806 No.599 For Pocklington, Dickinson, Hunter & Co., manuscript signature of Wm. Hunter (Outing 1488b; Grant 1998B), VF or better for type with 2 sets of very minor pinholes, a clear embossed Tudor rose revenue stamp for 5 Pence, exhibition bankruptcy stamp on reverse manuscript signed William Johnson. A very well-preserved example for its age now over 2 centuries
Newark Bank 5 Pounds last year dated 22nd March 1809 before failure No. 678 For Pocklington, Dickinson & Co. manuscript signed Wm. Dickinson and J. Cope (?) for entered (Outing 1488k; Grant 1998C), presentable Fine - VF slightly trimmed possibly original and multiple pinholes in body, Rare. Embossed Revenue stamp for 1 Shilling is quite clear at left obverse and 1 bankruptcy stamp on reverse with manuscript signatures. The note features the Bank's Coat of Arms and name in circular frame at left obverse and printed on watermarked paper where watermark reads "NEWARK" at centre and printed in an upside-down mirror-image fashion.
