Halfcrown 1889 Obv 3 Rev C -- B.S.C. 647 -- by far the most prevalent Halfcrown of 1889 - golden tone choice Unc. (Note: the above gathering of all known 6 die varieties provides a unique purchasing opportunity and any such future duplication will prove most unlikely).
Halfcrown 1894 Obv 2 Rev B -- B.S.C. 665 -- a perfect match for the above coin, being in an almost flawless condition - a scarce year - golden peripheral toning and very choice
Halfcrown 1896 Obv 2 Rev A -- B.S.C. 668 -- a very scarce die pairing having a wide spaced '96' - especially in this almost flawless grade, golden tone and very choice. (Note: B.S.C. 660P has now been confirmed and is the scarcer of the 2 proofs. However, B.S.C. 661 currency has not been traced and must now read '*', also the '3's in the dates of these coins can occur very close to the '9').
Florin 1895 Obv 1 Rev A -- B.S.C. 836 -- rarer than the 1894 obv. 1 with this example having proof-like fields - arguably one of the finest known - very choice
Shilling 1889 Obv 1 Rev D -- B.S.C. 985 -- a very rare variety of this 1889 small head, having a weak upper obv. legend possibly hastening its speedy withdrawal, with very few struck. This coin has never been seen in top grade by the vendor. Rarity is once again reflected by this example's grade about Fine
Shilling 1890 Obv 3 Rev E -- B.S.C. 988a -- a newly categorised rev. and only used for 1890, being the general issue. Rev. E has a smaller orb and the cross-patee is wider and more defined with its centre now below the border beads. Choice golden tone UNC or near so. (Note: B.S.C. 980 is now also known as a very rare proof with an unusual bevelled edge).
Shilling 1893 Obv 1 Rev C -- B.S.C. 1010a -- a recently found die pairing using rev. C in 1893, rare with very few known brilliant choice GEF with proofish fields
Shilling 1893 Obv 2 Rev C -- B.S.C. 1011a -- a very recently found die pairing with only 2 other inferior examples known to vendor, very rare and reflected in its grade GVF
Shilling 1894 Obv 1 Rev B -- B.S.C. 1013 -- an important rarity of modern silver coins. Although Spink have differentiated the 1893 small and large obv. shilling legend for many years, the same situation for 1894 shillings has been unnoticed by them. Sixpence 1889 Obv 2 Rev D -- B.S.C. 1165d -- a fairly common die pairing and this example most probably struck early from proof dies toned Prooflike GEF/UNC. (Note: The proof withdrawn obv. 2, with a thick rim, has both the serifs of 'R's as do withdrawn obv. 4 proofs. Spink consider proofs of withdrawn obv. 2 extremely rare, with proofs of withdrawn obv. 1 an ordinary issue).
Sixpence 1890 Obv 2 Rev D -- B.S.C. 1166 -- most probably this example is a very rare impaired proof of this rare die pairing for 1890, mirror fields, somewhat impaired scuffed EF
Sixpence 1890 Obv 2 Rev A -- B.S.C. 1167a -- a rare newly found die pairing for 1890, with this rev. A having its usual retouched joined r.h. first leaf and a 'handstruck 90' in date, choice toned unc.
Halfcrown 1902 Obv 1 Rev A -- B.S.C. 1510M -- a trial or pattern having a more raised and detailed head, with the obv. not being matte as is the rev. - rare and as issued NFDC
Shilling 1903 Obv 2 Rev A -- B.S.C. 1551a -- a flawless example of this newly discovered rare die pairing for 1903. Probably a special 'specimen finish' striking with its proof-like milling and unquestionably representing the finest known example, delightful cinnamon toning
Halfcrown 1928 Obv 1 Rev B -- B.S.C. 1701 -- struck on a slightly smaller flan - 31.8 mm instead of 32 mm - producing thinner rims, the only copy vendor has seen, choice mint
Shilling 1920 Obv 4 Rev B -- B.S.C. 1804 -- a scarcer obv. for 1920 being rare in this offered grade. Spink have encountered their 'recut shallow portrait' in the 1920 halfcrowns and florins, but not for any 1920 shillings. Choice for issue AU
Shilling 1921 Obv 3 Rev D -- B.S.C. 1805 -- a rare grade for this scarce obv. for 1921 and the last issue of Spink's 'deeply engraved' sterling silver head. The finest grade seen by vendor, UNC toned
Sixpence 1911 Obv 2 Rev A -- B.S.C. 1862 -- a very scarce sub-variety now having an extra curl in field at the base of the lion's mane, and also smaller ears. Not quite as scarce as the above rev. - choice cinnamon toned unc.
Sixpence 1922 Obv 2 Rev B -- B.S.C. 1876 -- a very scarce variety, now utilising the original half silver, half copper alloy - without any nickel or manganese - but with deeply blanched flans, inducing slightly more silver to the coin surfaces, about as struck
Ten pence 1973 Obv 3 Rev C -- B.S.C. 2814 -- a very rare die pairing, with rev. C only used for this year. Probably less than a dozen examples have survived the recall and this piece is one of the finest EF
