PennyWilliam I Paxs Type AEGLPINE ON HRF Hereford Mint (B.M.C. VIII, N.848, S.1257) VF or better, toned, pleasing, and rare. See SCBI Midlands 568-571, listed in E.M.C as moneyer Aethelwine but in North as Aegelwine. The cataloguer believes the latter to be the correct attribution.
Hammered (19) Study group of medieval, Tudor, and Stuart coinage of various denominations and in varying states (one pierced). Also includes a singular Norman detector find penny of William the Conqueror with a pleasing portrait but fractured. Viewing recommended.
