PennyHenry III Class Ia ANG LIE TER CI'/HENRICVS:REX, no moneyer (Nicholas of St. Albans) (N.983, S.1358) VF,10% of the legends fragmented away but of the highest rarity. Out of the 34,500 coins of Henry III studied by Thomas & Churchill for their study of the 1908 Brussels hoard, there were just 3 examples of Class Ia.
Hammered (4) An interesting group which represents the transition from short cross to cross and pellets coinage in England during the 13th century, PennyJohn Class 5c SIMON ON CAN Canterbury mint (N,971, S.1352) GF, very slight flan loss but a clear portrait, Penny Henry III Class 5a RICARD ON LVND London mint (N.991/2, S.1367),VF and nicely toned, flan slightly crimped and the reverse a little off struck, Penny Edward I Class VI IOH ON SEINTED Bury St. Edmunds mint (N.1001, S.1377) Fine, the crude portrait mostly clear, probably from the Colchesterhoard, Penny Edward I Class 4d with pellet at beginning of Obv. and rev. legend Canterbury mint (N.1026, S.1419) GF and toned
