Isle of Man Westminster Bank Limited 1 PoundPick 23Ab (BY IM10e, IOMPM M314) a very LAST date 10th March 1961 with date partially stamped and printed signatures P. F. Barlow & T. D. Russell and serial number 244727, VF - GVF Minor fold Tear and an Exceptionally Rare example of one of the very LAST of the Westminster Bank issues. The note in black on light yellow underprint featuring the Bank's Coat of Arms at upper centre depicting a Crowned Triune flanked by the Royal Crowned Lion of England and Unicorn of Scotland, "Incorporated in England" text below Bank's name and promissory text with value in panel at centre. The reverse with a large triune at centre, guilloche value panels and Bank's head office address. Printed by Waterlow & Sons Limited, London on unwatermarked paper.
World (10) an interesting and very collectible group of notes in various grades mostly GVF - EF to about UNC - UNC and comprising a Scarce Russian Civil War East Siberia -Chita 100 Rubley "Sparrows" Gosudarstvenniy Bank (State Bank) - Chita branch Pick S1187b 1920 Ataman Semenov's money issued by the Government of the Russian Eastern Border Regions, variety with cubes in frame on reverse. These notes were called Sparrows due to their grey paper and were printed later in blue reason being, whatever ink was available that is what was used to print. The fate of the “sparrows” was a foregone conclusion: even when released, their cost was 2 times lower than that of Kolchak’s “Siberian squirrels”. And by the end of 1920, their value was striving for zero. Also, a very attractive and very well-preserved selection of USA Obsolete Currency of various issuers and denominations (5) comprising a Bank of New-England at Goodspeed's Landing East Haddam, Connecticut2 Dollars unissued remainder circa 1800's. The Bank of Macomb County, Mt. Clements, State of Michigan10 Dollars Unissued Remainder dated 1st April 1858. The Chesapeake & Ohio Canal Company 20 Dollars 9th November 1840 No. 372B. The Canal Bank New Orleans 20 dollars series D Unissued remainder circa 1800's. And The State of Georgia, Milledgeville 100 Dollars dated 1st February 1863 series A No. 11384 with 2 manuscript signatures and a black Treasury of Georgia seal on reverse dated 1864, a nice and even original cut. Also known as a C-note with a portrait of war time Governor Joe Brown, who contemplated the idea of Georgia succeeding from the Confederacy. The reverse in violet featuring a Victorian period scene of George street, Edinburgh with the Bank's building at centre. Printed by Bradbury, Wilkinson & Co. Ld. New Malden, Surrey, England imprinted in small script at lower centre obverse and watermarked with the same female bust as on lower left obverse.
