Gibraltar 50 Pounds Pick 24 dated 27th November 1986 signature B. Traynor serial number A 076639, about UNC - UNC. The highest denomination for the series this is an always collectible and beautifully designed note with mainly purple/violet on multicolour and printed by Thomas De la Rue & Company, London and watermarked with a bust of Queen Elizabeth II. The reverse illustrates an aerial view of Gibraltar and Rock of Gibraltar, the impressive 426 metres high limestone ridge and Gibraltar's most recognized landmark.

A very well-preserved example, good EF with pencilled annotation on reverse reads "April 14" and mounting marks, and a very small rust mark at centre on face.
Isle of Man 10 Pounds Pick 36a (BY IM52; IOMPM M525) ND 1979 (8th September 1988) signature Dawson titled Treasurer of The Isle of Man serial number without a prefix variety 592106, EF. Brown and green on multicolour featuring a portrait of HM Queen Elizabeth II at right and the Triune with motto at centre. The reverse in reddish brown and brown with an illustration of Peel Castle, circa 1830.
Italy (5) a collectible group consisting of some very collectible notes as the 1000 Lire "Ornata di Perle" (Decorated with Pearls) Pick 88b dated 11th February 1949 signatures Menichella & Urbini series H251 number 003927 printer I.P.S. Officina Carte-Valori, Rome and seal type Medusa/Bank's Monogram , VF - GVF. A faint purple on light brown underprint featuring a fabulous portrait of one of the "Three Graces" of the painting "Primavera", by the Italian Renaissance painter Sandro Botticelli made in the late 1470s or early 1480s. The reverse in blue and grey with guilloche panels. Also the 500 Lire "Mietitrice" Pick 51d dated 19th December 1940 signatures Azzolini & Urbini block Q219 number 7832 seal type Italia/Fascio, VF or near with small tape repairs at marginal tears at left and right. The common name amongst Italian collectors - "Meatrice" (Harvester/Reaper), perhaps given due to the bold slightly au naturel image of a female farm harvester on obverse, holding a sickle in one hand and in the other holding a sheet of wheat, and also seated on sheets of wheat. The reverse with Panthenonic -like statue with 3 allegorical figure representing "Economy", "Law" and "Finance". Printed in Rome by Officina della Banca d'Italia and a rather larger sized note popular amongst collectors. Together with a trio of 100000 Lires in mixed grades VG - about VF including Pick 108a dated 20th June 1978 signatures Baffi & Stevani (2) serial numbers RA 416853 G and TA 245653 D. Along with Pick 108b dated 1st July 1980 signatures Ciampi & Stevani serial number JA 376858 J.

Middle East (11) an interesting group in varied grades average VF to about UNC - UNC Comprising Egypt (6) a denomination pair of King Farouk I portrait Currency Notes Law of 1940 and both in presentable VF or about with signature of Makram Ebeid titled on reverse "Minister of Finance" comprising a 5 PiastresPick 165a serial number with star at end J/5 423329 * and 10 PiastresPick 168a serial number L/4 347487, the later with a pair of pinholes in lower right body. These notes very popular in the recent years. Along with Arab Republic of Egypt Currency note 5 PiastresPick 182g signature Aly Loutfy Mahmoud Loutfy (11/1978 - 5/1980) title Minister of Finance series M/46 No. 623464 printer Survey Authority watermark ARE. Along with Central Bank issues (3) including a pair of 10 Pounds (2) different designs Pick 46b dated 1972 a larger sized note, and the more modern Pick 51e dated 15 June 1999. Along with a 20 DinarsPick 52b dated 19th March 1992 and date position variety to lower right of watermark area. Together with a selection of Iraq (5) various denominations of Gulf War captured currency stamped "Certified Official / Ministry of Defence" consisting of a 1 Dinar Pick 69a dated 1984. 5 DinarsPick 70a dated 1981. 10 Dinars Pick 71a dated 1982. Along with 25 Dinars (2) including the Pick 73a dated 1986 and the Pick 72 dated 1982. A near complete denomination set, these notes were captured by the British 1st Armoured division in the Persian Gulf War. During the attack into Iraq, and the dash across Kuwait north of Kuwait city, they overran and occupied a number of Iraqi headquarters, military installations and advancing 290 kilometres they managed to destroy 3 Iraqi divisions and capturing or destroying more than 4000 Iraqi tanks and armoured vehicles along with capturing several million dollars of Iraqi currency. The seized currency was sent back to England's Ministry of Defence Cash Management Branch where they were certified and given these hand stamps.
Mozambique (11) a varied and interesting group dating back to as early as 1930 - 40's to modern in mixed grades VG to UNC. Comprising interesting issues as the early Companhia de Mozambique 5 Libras Estrelinas Pick R32 dated 15th January 1934 and punch holed at centre left and right to read "PAGO / 5th Nov 1942" - PAGO meaning PAID. Along with a World War 2 Emergency issue 50 CentavosPick 80 series L No. 56028 Decreto No 17154 dated 9th September 1941. A Chamico portrait series 1 Escudo Pick 81 dated 1st September 1941 signatures Manuel Rodrigues Junior & Antonio dos Santos Viegas (2) serial numbers B 000404 and B 1737117. The provisionally overprinted 50 Escudos Pick 116 dated 27th October 1970 (1976) serial number B0161674. Also, 1000 EscudosPick 115 dated 23rd May 1972 number 1659501. Along with a selection of 1000 Meticais Pick 128 dated 16th June 1980 (5) all possibly first series prefixes AA and come in some fairly earlier numbers as the consecutive trio AA 0018593 - AA 0018595, AA0013003 and AA744640 this with a minor pencilled numeral at upper right marginal corner. The note in light brown and black on red and yellow sunburst underprint with the obverse displaying Glasgow Cathedral and Palace of Holyrood house at left and right along with the Bank's Coat of Arms at upper centre. The reverse featuring an elaborate guilloche panel displaying a city view of Edinburgh at centre flanked by large numerical value in panels, Coat of Arms above and surrounded with numerical value. South Africa - Orange Free State pre Second Boer War (Anglo-Boer War) Post Office Post Noots (3) including 1 PoundPick S688 series A/1 04673, EF or about and very well preserved for its age this is the highest denomination for the Post Noots and the most Rarest and sought after due to its high denomination and lesser demand. To pay what is best read as G I Lest or Loots at Post Office Bloemfontein, entered hand stamp at left from Kroonstad, OVS dated 7th September 1898 and redemption stamp at right from post office Bloemfontein dated 1st October 1898. Along with other hand stamps on face from Bloemfontein and National Bank of South Africa, Johannesburg also a "BEETAALD" (PAID) stamp from the General Post Office of the Orange Free State. Uniface in olive-green and printed on watermarked paper with watermark reading Oranje Vrij Staat / Post Noot. Also, 10 Shillings Pick S685 series A/1 06190, EF with a pair of Pinholes to left upper body and faint signs of general wear, a very well preserved for its age and pleasing example. To pay what is best read as E. D. Moon or Moors at Post Office Bloemfontein this hand stamped not manuscript, entered hand stamp at left from Paris, O.V.S dated 27th February 1899 and redemption stamp at right from post office Bloemfontein dated 4th March 1899. No other hand stamps can be observed on this example. Uniface in violet and printed on watermarked paper with watermark reading Oranje Vrij Staat / Post Noot. Together with the 1 Shilling Pick S681 series A/1 02761, GVF or EF for type with very minor faint signs of general wear and a very well preserved for its age example. To pay B. G. Lennon & Co., Ltd. at Post Office Port Elizabeth, entered hand stamp at left from Bothaville, O.V.S dated 24th September 1898 and redemption stamp at right from post office Port Elizabeth dated 1st October 1898. Redemption signature with hand stamped B.G. Lennon & Co., Ltd. with title Managing Director. The reverse with a PAID hand stamp from General Post Office, Cape Town and a red post stamp for 1 Penny from Cape of Good Hopecancelled with the same hand stamp as redemption Port Elizabeth dated 1st October 1898. Uniface in green and printed on watermarked paper with watermark reading Oranje Vrij Staat / Post Noot. An interesting fact is that B. G. Lennon & Co., Ltd were a chemist and druggist business in Port Elizabeth established in 1850 by Barry Grey Lennon, an Irish chemist and nephew of the Governor of Cape of Good Hope - Sir George Grey. Their shops were to be found in most major towns in Cape Province, Natal, Orange Free State and Transvaal. In 1894 they became the first commercial pharmacy in Bulawayo and on 29th December 1898, Lennon Limited became a registered company. By 1930 the company had become the largest pharmaceutical business in the southern hemisphere and in the decades to follow Lennon Ltd was amalgamated by the South African Druggists group in an consolidation effort, then in 1968 South African Druggist joined the Johannesburg Stock Exchange and in 1999 it was acquired by Aspen in 1999 through a hostile takeover worth 2.4 million Rand which operates to this day and is the largest drug company in Africa.
