Penny 1892 as Freeman 134 dies 12+N, with Double linear circle below the 189 of the date. Recorded by Gouby for 1879, 1883, 1883 and 1886 but not for this date, LCGS Variety 05, Good Fine, in an LCGS holder and graded LCGS 35

Pennies (2) 1826 No Line on Saltire, Reverse A, Peck 1422 the obverse EF, the reverse very near so, 1858 8 over 2, this variety previously thought to be 8 over 3 with die cracks showing thinly through the bottom of all four digits of the date showing an earlier stage of the die break associated with this type. Research now shows this is more likely to be 8 over 2, indeed this example shows a small point to the lower left extreme of the 8. Recent research suggests that this die had only a short working life (Source: Michael Gouby, article Spink Numismatic Circular May 2010 pages 72-73). EF the obverse a little unevenly toned in the left field
Penny 1863 3 over 1 Gouby BP1863Aa (dies J+g), Freeman dies 6+G, Poor the overstrike visible under strong magnification, an extremely rare type, and always sought after on the rare occasions they are offered
Penny 1862 Small Date from Halfpenny die Freeman 41 dies 6+G, Gouby BP1862E, Fair and 'misty' in parts, however the date is bold and the variety very clear, Rated R18 by Freeman and seldom offered in any grade

Halfpenny 1862 B over R in BRITT, also double struck 6 in the date. Excessively Rare, the variety recorded by Gouby for the Penny (BP1862H) but we believe this to be the first recorded Halfpenny with the same overstrike. UNC or near so with around 40% lustre

We note an example described as Fair realised £1400 hammer price in our Auction A156 (5/3/2017 Lot 2509). This example is visually a superior coin with all legends clear. Probably rarer than the 1877 Narrow date coin, of which an LCGS Fine 20 example realised £7020 in our June 2010 auction

Penny 1863 Die Number 2, Freeman 45, dies 6+G (Rarity 19), Gouby BP1863C, Satin 47, pleasant Fine with some old scratches consistent with a Fine grade, this is the first example we have offered. As a relative guide to rarity, in the past we have offered one Die Number 3 and five Die Number 4 Pennies and 6 1877 narrow dates the last of which realised £5500. We also note the Laurie Bamford example of this die number 2 described as VF sold for a hefty £4000 way back in 2006 since when many coin prices have risen by multiples. There was no example in the Workman 1, Workman 2, Alderley, Crocker or Roland Harris Collections
