Halfcrown 1866 Fair, weight 13.37 grammes, one of the 'missing' dates in the Young Head Halfcrown series, mentioned by way of footnote in ESC by Rayner in the 1969 edition who had heard of an example dated 1861 sold in a "Northern" auction in Fair in 1967 for £115. Reported as unrecorded in Royal Mint striking records, more recent opinion is that these are regarded as later forgeries struck around 1887-1890 from worn dies, as the head types are incorrect for the period

Sovereign 1871 Shield Reverse Marsh 55, Die Number 30, a mint state and choice example, in an LCGS holder and graded LCGS 80, the finest known of 27 examples thus far recorded by the LCGS Population Report, a choice piece. A the time of writing a total of 1,112 Victoria Young Head Sovereigns of all currency dates and types had been submitted for LCGS grading and only 4 examples attained grades 80 or above, so an extremely hard series to find true mint state coins, this providing a rare opportunity
Halfcrown 1842 ESC 675, Bull 2717 UNC and lustrous, in an LCGS holder and graded LCGS 80, a very attractive and desirable example of the early Young Head series, very difficult to locate in grade 80, indeed the LCGS Population Report records only 18 Halfcrowns in the 1840-1850 period graded 80 or above

The joint finest known of 6 examples thus far recorded by the LCGS Population Report. Sovereign 1880M Shield Reverse, WW Raised on truncation Marsh 61, S.3854 (rated R2 by Marsh), one of the rarer date/type combinations in the entire Young Head Melbourne series, NEF and very rare thin this high grade
Half Sovereign 1842 Marsh 416 UNC or very near so and lustrous, in an LCGS holder and graded LCGS 75, a most attractive example of the early Young head type, the LCGS Population Report shows very few examples for the Young head type grading 75 or higher
Halfpenny 1729 Peck 830 UNC evenly struck and a super example of the Young Head portrait type, slabbed in an LCGS holder and graded LCGS 78, formerly part of the Andrew Wayne Collection, sold in London Coins Auction A113 5/6/2006 (Lot 980), this is one of the very early submissions to LCGS (UIN 0000030) and after a further 43,000 coins have been graded, is still the finest recorded example, thus proving the rarity of these early copper pieces.
Sovereign 1872M 2 over 1 Shield Reverse, Marsh 59A, Fine/Good Fine and rated R4 by Marsh with 15-25 examples believed to exist, making this the scarcest date/die combination in the Melbourne Young Head Shield Series. The overdate is visible over the top of the 2 with the base of the underlying 1 forming part of the base of the 2. An example of the type is shown in Marsh 2000 page 64 (scanning electron microscope picture). Cataloguers Note: The mint was opened on 12 June 1872 by the Governor and Viscountess Canterbury. This was somewhat later than planned; it had ordered and paid for dies to strike coins dated 1871. It was initially manned by volunteers from the Royal Engineers who had undertaken special training in London. They were under the command of Colonel Edward Ward who had already great experience with opening a mint in Australia as he had been in charge of the original team at the Sydney Mint in 1855. This variety arose due to the dies sent from London only averaging 8000 impressions, whereas the reverse dies were averaging 14,000 impressions, therefore by September 1872 some of the 1871 obverse dies had to be altered. A local engraver Julius Hogarth was employed and carried out the work.

Malaya & British Borneo Board of Commissioners of Currency 50 DollarsPick 4a dated 21st March 1953 serial number A/8 248288. The obverse featuring a crowned young portrait of H.M. The Queen at right and the reverse in greyish blue featuring Coat of Arms of the member states. A Bradbury and Wilkinson print characteristically blue on light green and multicoloured underprint and watermarked with a Lion's head. Presentable about VF - VF, a Scarce denomination and a very attractive note
Mint Errors - Mis-Strikes (4) Shilling 1839 a spectacular double strike with a section of another similar coin overstruck between 12 and 3 o'clock on the reverse, the additional piece being 12mm across, and extending beyond the rim of the original coin, showing part profile of the Young Head. GVF and holed at the top. DecimalTen Pence 1973 struck off centre on a 29mm diameter flan with around 3mm blank flan excess around the edge in parts. The additional excess also having a straight cut top edge which does not obstruct the edge of the coin, UNC and lustrous with some odd scuffs, these probably occurring at the time of minting. Decimal Ten Pence undated Large size a spectacular off-centre strike with just 11mm of the coin visible on the 28mm diameter flan, unusually some edge milling remains, this being on the part of the coin that shows part of the Lion, in an area that would normally be in the centre of the coin, GVF and highly unusual. Decimal Two Pence 1971 with a large planchet clip from 8 o'clock to 11 o'clock on the obverse, thus only the R of REG remains and the last 1 and lower tip of the 7 of the date NEF/EF with some scratches, and retaining some mint lustre
Shilling 1884 ESC 1343, Bull 3074, Davies 921 dies 7D, Lustrous UNC a very pleasing example the obverse showing the full strike at the front of the Queen's hairline, this often weak on the later Young Head issues
Sovereign 1872M 2 over 1 Shield Reverse, Marsh 59A, Good Fine/VF and rated R4 by Marsh with 15-25 examples believed to exist, making this the scarcest date/die combination in the Melbourne Young Head Shield Series. The overdate is visible over the top of the 2 with the base of the underlying 1 forming part of the base of the 2. This example shows a die crack through the 1 running from the rim, through the date, and ending on the truncation between the W.W. .
Half Sovereign 1838 Marsh 414 About VF/VF or slightly better, Rare, with a mintage of 273,341 pieces, one of the lowest mintages in the Young Head series
Half Sovereign 1858 Type II Larger Young Head S.3859A NEF and lustrous the obverse with a thin scratch visible under magnification, the reverse with a small nick in the field above the crown, in spite of this the coin retains considerable lustre and much eye appeal
