Florin 1869 ESC 834, Bull 2867, Davies 749 dies 3A, Top Cross on reverse does not touch border beads. Die Number 5. EF/GEF and lustrous, the obverse with some contact marks, retaining plenty of mint lustre with golden toning in the legends and with considerable eye appeal. We note this piece considerably superior to the example in the Andrew Wayne and Roland Harris Collections
Halfcrown 1840 ESC 673, Bull 2715 UNC with a full sharp strike and choice with original colour and underlying lustre, the obverse complimented by touches of golden tone in the legend, the reverse with a superb blue/green tone. A truly outstanding piece and must surely be one of the finest remaining examples. Halfcrowns of 1839 and 1840 are the only dates with W.W on the truncation, and given the rarity of the 1839 coin, the 1840 coin is always sought after, and is almost never seen in choice grade
Half Sovereign 1887M Jubilee Head, Small, close J.E.B initials on truncation with no doubling to the initials, S.3870A, DISH M506, GEF/EF and lustrous with small touches of surface deposit on the reverse. Figures in David Iverson's excellent study on this series 'The Jubilee Head Gold Sovereign 1887-1893' suggest a mintage in the region of 9,000 pieces only

Half Sovereign 1821 ProofS.3802 UNC retaining much original mint brilliance and touches of red toning in places, the obverse with some light tooling in the field between the King's forehead and D:G:, a true rarity and one-year type design. The reverse by Pistrucci is considered to be one of the classic and most beautiful 19th Century designs. We note the currency coin now lists at £5750, this being rated R5 by Marsh, (estimated 9-14 known) the Proof coin now listing at £8500, a considerably more rare and desirable coin, and seldom offered for sale. Our archive database shows that we have only offered one previous example, this was in November 2003. This type missing from many advanced Half Sovereign collections, one of a number of high grade and George IV gold pieces in this sale
Crown 1900 LXIII ESC 318, Bull 2608, Davies 533 dies 3E, a sharply struck and crisp example of the Veiled Head type, lustrous with golden tone and touches of blue. A choice piece and a superior example of this scarcer edge type, with outstanding eye appeal, in an LCGS holder and well deserving of the LCGS 82 grade. The finest known of just 3 examples thus far recorded by the LCGS Population Report

Two Pounds 1902?Matte PROOF - a rare example having the designers initials 'De.S' and the commencement of the legend double struck -minor surface nicks on obverse?otherwise About FDC (Notes on Edwardian issues: All Five pound pieces, proofs and currencies appear struck from one die sinking. Proof dates occur either 7 mm?or 7.5 mm wide, whilst currencies are either 7.5 mm?or 8 mm wide. Proof two pound pieces have a pointed base to the figure '2', whilst currencies pieces are all rounded. Sovereigns and halfsovereigns appear to be struck from one die sinking) (Notes on George V issues: All five pound and two pound pieces and proof sovereigns and proof half-sovereigns are 'full neck' and from single die-sinkings. Currency pieces for 1911 are both 'full neck' and 'shallow neck', but unlike the silver issues? all share the same legend and border beading. The 'full neck has a more raised portion above the initial 'M'?whilst the shallow neck' almost touches the top of the 'M'. From 1912 ?onwards the 'full neck' dies appear to be almost exclusively used throughout the series for both London and branch mints until 1928, but?with some exceptions - a 1912 'P' has been noted with 'shallow neck'. Further examination is required to consolidate this series)
