China - Banque Industrielle De Chine 1914-17 "Tientsin" Issue 5 DollarsPick S399 (S/M#C254-2b) place of issue - TIENTSIN overprinted in black, 2 manuscript signatures series B 1914 number 091838, the 1914 supposedly because of the issue date, however hand stamped with 25th October 1917 at centre obverse, in a PMG holder graded Choice Fine 15 NET Ink Burn. This is an Extraordinarily Rare note especially in issued format due to the extremely successful note redemption rate nearing 100%, in fact its so Rare that the current SCWPM records this and the higher denominations from the series only as SPECIMENS and this is the ONLY issued example recorded on the PMG Population Report at the time of writing. A very attractive design as expected from Bradbury Wilkinson & Co., London in blue on multicolour featuring guilloche panels with values in Chinese and English along with 2 statues of what appear to be Chinese mythological creatures at lower centre left and right on obverse, also the text at centre in a mix of English, French and Chinese. The reverse in violet on multicolour with what appears to be an illustration of the popular Temple of Heaven in its methodical Confucian design. The temple originally served as a vast stage for solemn rites performed by the emperor (the literal 'Son of Heaven'), who prayed there for good harvests at winter solstice and sought divine clearance and atonement. Since 1918 this private imperial domain has opened its gates to the public and is a poplar site where people perform daily taichi, twirl on gymnastic bars and sing revolutionary songs. The Rarity of this note makes it a real treat for any collector and most likely to be missing from even the utmost advanced collections. In contrast, online research shows none of this denomination offered with only 1 of the same type currently in the collection of the National Museum of American History and only the 10 Dollars denomination of the same type offered in recent times

Red, mauve and multicolour illustrating Sir James Martin 1893-1981, as well as watermark, and a pilot in an ejector (catapult) seat on obverse. The reverse with the drawing and details of the Facade of City Hall, Belfast along with Ferris wheel and other buildings in the underprint.
ScotlandBank of Scotland 100 Pounds Bradbury & Evans Colour Trial ESSAY/SPECIMEN circa 1880 Pick NL (PMS BA78) ND circa 1880, UNC Exceptionally Rare and unusual for the time. Uniface large-sized note printed by lithography in 4 colour variations - 2 variations in red, 1 in olive-green and 1 in purple, this example is of the green-olive type. According to Douglas, these were produced in 1880 when the Bank embarked on a period of extensive research into methods to prevent forgery. Some changes were made to the earlier plate but there is no record of who the engraver was and no mention of these notes can be found in the Bank's records. A Scarce and pleasing example that would do a great addition to any collection

Bearing the Charles Skipper & East London imprint and no watermark can be observed, this note displaying a Coat of Arms to upper left on obverse and an elaborate panel with value and bank title on reverse.

Crown 1965 Satin Finish Specimen striking ESC 393O, Bull 4341, Davies 2301M. Excessively rare rated R5 by Bull and R6 by the 1992 ESC. This example in an NGC holder and graded SP67. The NGC Top Population coin, and the finest known example across three major grading companies. At the time of writing, our research has uncovered 11 examples graded by third party grading companies, some entries which may be duplicated. LCGS has graded 4 examples, in grades 82, 88 (2) and 90. PCGS has graded 3 examples, all SP65, and NGC has graded 4 examples SP62, SP64 (2) and this superb SP67 example. The fields display an even shimmering satin lustre, and displaying the die polish lines associated with this type under strong magnification, a key indicator of this excessively rare type. A wonderful example and would be a centrepiece coin in any advanced Crown collection. We note an example of this type sold in London Coins Auction A166 1/9/2019 described as 'nFDC with underlying brilliance' sold for £5500 hammer price
Sovereign 1850 with a 5 struck over the 8 of the date, a recently discovered type, NVF/Good Fine and extremely rare, the overstrike extremely bold and clear. This the same variety as the coin listed in the Bentley Collection (Lot 986), where it was stated 'the cataloguer has heard of only one other specimen extant' and that the Bentley collector waited 5 years to acquire his example. We note the Bentley example, described as 'Cleaned, Good Very Fine' realised £2520 in May 2013. In the light of this, there will be few opportunities to obtain this coin for any advanced Sovereign Collection, and it may be many years before another example is offered

Crown 1935 Incuse Edge ProofESC 377A (R6 - rated 2-5 examples believed to exist, making this rarer in number than the Gold Proof issue of this date) The edge legend much less sharply defined than on the currency and specimen strikings of this year. The edge itself is shaper, with the design and fields displaying a superior strength of detail and strike. nFDC with some hairlines and a pleasant underlying tone. Excessively rare and comparable in quality to the Van Roekel example sold in 2001. With the passage of the Union Bank of Burma Act 1952, the sole right of currency issued was transferred from the Burma Currency Board to a newly created Currency Department of the Union Bank of Burma with effect from 1st July 1952. The Burma Currency Board was abolished and its asset and liabilities were transferred to the Union Bank of Burma. Another important change in the new currency is the conversion to a decimal system. When the Union Bank of Burma took over the central bank’s responsibilities, a token issue of the bank notes was made on 1st July 1952. Turkey (3) comprising 50 Kurus (2) Pick 133 L. 1930 President Mustafa İsmet İnönü at right & Community Center, Ankara series B25 386933 EF or better slight wrinkling considered from water damage given its history along with the later note which got issued after the bombing Pick 134 President Mustafa İsmet İnönü at centre & Central Bank building Ankara series C2 090520. Also the 100 Lira Pick NL unrecorded L.1930 President Mustafa İsmet İnönü at right & Dardanelles view at reverse series H19 02888 Fine - about VF small piece missing from bottom right corner, a small tear at upper centre at fold and a small light rust mark to left but very well kept and an Exceptionally Scarce notes as our research could find that this issue was on a ship (SS City of Roubaix) bombed by Germany while at Piraeus Harbour (Greece) April 6, 1941 near the beginning of WWII. The Turkish government cancelled the issue and arranged for another instead. All available examples were rescued from the sea therefore signs of salt water damage are to be expected. "There is no official recovery record of the 100 Lira notes from the wreck. They were not handed over by the Greek authorities to the Republic of Turkey like the 50 Kurus notes. It is believed the notes that escaped confiscation were also introduced by Greek and non-Muslim tradesmen and put into circulation in the smaller provinces of Turkey, where communications were poor. The variety of notes confused the public, who were not in a position to tell if the notes were legitimate or not. What is certain is these original notes are extremely rare. Only two pieces were reportedly seen in Turkey in the last few decades. The same is true for the 50 Lira note (P136). Not more than a couple has ever been reported. Although also very hard to acquire, Thomas De La Ruespecimen notes remain the best bet for filling this historic gap in a bank note collection of Turkish Republic issues." ScotlandBank of Scotland5 Pounds Stanley Curister ESSAY undated 21st January 1945 similar design to Pick 97 (Calloway-Murphy BA 102b) serial number 8/Q 4233 signatures Lord Elphinstone for Governor and Crawford for Treasurer black SPECIMENoverprint diagonally at centre. The note features a grey Scotia medallion at centre, Great Seal of Scotland, Arms with unicorns at left on obverse and reverse in Dark Grey featuring Arms at centre and value at centre left and right. In 1943 the Bank started to consider redesigning the £5 note. A committee was set up with a brief to examine ways of reducing the size of the £5 note and adding a printed reverse. Stanley Curister, the Curator of the National Gallery at the time, prepared designs for the printed reverse featuring the Bank's shield against a lined background which was approved in May 1944 after several variants were submitted experimenting with different coloured inks. The inks were produced by A B Fleming & Co Ltd, the long standing ink manufacturers for the Bank. A number of these essays have come on to the market, all in the reduced dimensions. This essay type seen with both the SPECIMEN and CANCELLED overprint. About UNC and Exceptionally Scarce
