Saudi Arabia Monetary Agency Hajj Pilgrim Receipt 1 Riyal Second issue during the reign printed of King Saud Pick 2 AH 1375 (1956) series 10 / 148081, about VF and Scarce. In red on multicolour displaying the Entrance to the Royal Khuzam Palace in Jeddah and the value of the receipt in Arabic, Malawi, Urdu, Persian, Turkish and English on obverse. The reverse brown with undertaking in the Arabic, Turkish, Malawi, Urdu and Persian languages and at the bottom is the Kingdom's Coat of Arms. These receipts used to serve in a similar way as a traveller's cheque for the Muslim Hajj Pilgrims that would usually receive it in advance of the annual Hajj and it could be exchanged in the local banks upon arrival for the predetermined amount. The Hajj is an annual Islamic pilgrimage to the holiest city of Mecca, Saudi Arabia and it is a mandatory religious duty for Muslims that must be carried out at least once in their lifetime by all adults who are physically and financially capable of undertaking the journey and can support their family during their absence.
