Canada Dominion of Canada 1 DollarPick 24Ab (DC-13c) Fine and Scarce variety with vertically printed word "ONE" at left and right on reverse curves outward, away from the centre of the note, at the centre of the word, dated 31st March 1898 left counter-signature manuscript and slightly faded, right signature Boville printed, plate D, series P and a collectible REPEATER number 703703, and well preserved for its age. The obverse in black on light brown with a busy log drive scene on a Canadian river flanked by portraits of Countess of Aberdeen at left and Earl of Aberdeen at right. The reverse in green with guilloche panels and an illustration of the Parliament building, Ottawa with a view from the front Gate to the Centre Block. Printed by the American Banknote Company, Ottawa in sheets of four notes with the check/plate letters A, B, C and D. The left signature varies and is manuscript entered by one of the many women employed by the Finance Department with exactly this purpose. Ishbel Maria Hamilton-Gordon, Marchioness of Aberdeen and Temair, GBE (1857-1939) was a British author, philanthropist, and an advocate of women's interests. As the wife of John Hamilton-Gordon (who's portrait is at right), 1st Marquess of Aberdeen and Temair, she was viceregal consort of Canada from 1893 to 1898 and of Ireland from 1906-1915. John Campbell Hamilton-Gordon, 1st Marquess of Aberdeen and Temair, KT, KP, GCMG, GCVO, PC (1847-1934) known as The 7th Earl of Aberdeen from 1870 to 1916, was a Scottish politician. Born in Edinburgh, Lord Aberdeen held office in several countries, serving twice as Lord Lieutenant of Ireland (1886; 1905–1915) and serving from 1893 to 1898 as the seventh Governor General of Canada.
Cardiff Bank, Glamorganshire 1 Guinea dated 11th March 1819 No. R325 For Wood, Wood & Co. manuscript signed John Wood and Entered with initials that best judged appear to be N.J. or N.T. (Outing 418c), a pleasing and quite presentable VF with few minor pinholes and a minor inner split to left centre body expected for the notes age, however a very well kept example and an Exceptionally Rare denomination. In fact, from research over the internet there seem to be none offered in recent times and the only example that appears is currently displayed in the British Museum Collection in what appears from the pictures to be an inferior grade to this example. Uniface in black & white printed by engraver and printer Henry Mutlow, with imprint Mutlow fc. Ridflow Co. London and displaying a Cardiff Castle vignette to centre left. Henry Mutlow, engraver to the King, was born around 1756 and mostly engraved maps and banknotes beginning his career with an apprenticeship to William Darling. The note displays very clear characteristics as an embossed Revenue Stamp for 5 Pence, a red diagonal First Dividend stamp on face and a bankruptcy exhibition stamp dated Oct 22nd 1823 on reverse with a manuscript inked signature along with an inked numeral to right. A unique chance for any British Provincial banknote collector to acquire this fabulous example

These were the last issues for this design and introduced the word 'STERLING' below denomination at centre obverse and the '£' symbol was added to numerical values at corners. These changes made to reflect the end of the fixed exchange rate of par between the Irish Pound (Punt) and British Pound Sterling that took place in March 1979. A Thomas De La Rue engraving and printing but without imprint and in brown on multicolour featuring a statue of Hibernia at right and the well-recognized for the Bank - Medusa head at left with the row of the same head at upper centre with the exception that its now featured in the underprint. An amazing 250 metre and 17 million Pounds liner that was named after the federal capital of Australia, Canberra and sponsored by the Dame Pattie Menzies, GBE, wife of the then Prime Minister of Australia - Robert Menzies. The ship entered service in 1961 and made her maiden voyage starting in June, operating on the combined P&O-Orient Line service between the United Kingdom and Australasia. So popular, the ship appeared in the 1971 James Bond film Diamonds Are Forever and in 1997 Gerard Kenny released the single "Farewell Canberra" which was specially composed for the last voyage, before it was withdrawn and sold to ship breakers for scrapping, and left for Gadani ship-breaking yard in Pakistan. Being such a solid construction, the scrapping process took a year instead of the planned 3 months. The ship also served as a troopship in the Falklands War being requisitioned by the MOD and quickly refitted for the purpose she sailed on 9th April 1982 travelling 9,000 nautical miles (17,000 km) away from the UK mainland and being put in the heart of the conflict she was nicknamed the Great White Whale.

Ireland Penny Token 1800 or 1822 34mm diameter, 14.19 grammes Obverse : Bust George III right, laureate and draped, ONE PENNY TOKEN. Reverse : Hibernia seated right holding a sprig of shamrock, the 00 of the date slanted to the right. IRELAND. The lower part of the date is worn, and examination of archive pictures of a similar piece suggest this may be 1822. Edge slant-milled with raised centre line. Die Axis inverted. Davis 37 Struck from very worn dies, causing much of the legend to be missing, the detail that remains around Fine. Listed as RRR by Withers and as R by Davis. Cataloguer's Note: Davis states that this is a forgery of the time, as Hibernia is seated to the right. This can be no doubt that these pieces were struck much later as the style of the reverse is similar to the British Pennies of 1825 onwards. This would suggest that 1822 is the more likely date for this piece. There also exists an example 'post-dated' 1827.

Order of the Dogwood - Province of British Columbia, Canada awarded to The Rt.Hon. Sir Robert Bellinger, Lord Mayor of London 1966. 55mm diameter, 101.37 grammes of 10 carat gold, along with 18mm 10 Carat gold miniature. Obverse: The image of the Dogwood flower, Reverse: Provincial Coat of Arms. UNC, inscribed to the recipient in a presentation box, and accompanied by a 10 carat gold miniature similar in design. The predecessor to the Order of the Dogwood, called the Dogwood medallion was created by the provincial government in 1958 to mark the Centennial of the establishment of the Colony of British Columbia. In turn, the Order of the Dogwood was created by Order in Council during a provincial cabinet meeting held at Fort Langley on November 19th 1966 to mark the centennial of the union of the Colony of British Columbia with the Colony of Vancouver Island. At the conclusion of the meeting Lieutenant Governor George Pearkes (who was a future recipient of the honour) gave consent to the creation of the honour, then presented at the Douglas Day dinner that followed. The honour was then presented to the first 5 recipients:- Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, Viscount Amory (Governor of the Hudson Bay Company), Sir Robert Bellinger, Clarence Wallace, and Frank Mackenzie Ross. Mackenzie and Ross were present for the ceremony. The Order of the Dogwood was the highest provincial honour until 1989, when it was replaced by the Order of British Columbia. Other recipients of the award include Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Philip, The Princess Royal (Princess Anne), and Princess Alexandra. The last recipient was Terry Fox (Canadian Athlete, humanitarian and cancer research activist) in 1980. Only 13 people have been awarded the Order of the Dogwood, and as the award was replaced in 1989 by the Order of British Columbia, there will be no future recipients. Sir Robert was a controversial London Mayor in 1966-1967 and was a stalwart of the Nation Savings movement. His time as Mayor from 1966-1967 coincided with the Harold Wilson Government which was eager to blame the City for the nation's economic woes. Rather than confine himself to ceremonial duties, Bellinger responded firmly on the City's behalf emphasising it's contributions through invisible earnings. He protested again when the Labour Government in October 1974 decided to abolish the 10 Pence savings stamp. Although the stamps paid no interest and was costly to administer it attracted £120 million a year from schoolchildren, housewives and factory workers. Bellinger hailed it as 'the grass roots of savings activity in this country'. He was appointed one of Her Majesty's lieutenants for the City in 1976, was also a trustee for St. Paul's cathedral and Chairman of the City of London's Freemans school. Bellinger had previously been knighted in 1964 and appointed GBE in 1967 He was Gentleman Usher of the Purple Rod (a role akin to treasurer) of the Order of the British Empire, and also held decorations from Belgium, Greece, Cameroon and Denmark. In his later years, Sir Robert became a director of Arsenal Football Club and was elected life president of the club in 1997. He died in July 2002. A rare opportunity to purchase an award only offered to 13 individuals including many Royal recipients. See also the impressive group of medals also awarded to Sir Robert Bellinger

Scotland The British Linen Bank 20 Pounds Fourth Waterlow issue Pick 159a (BY SC234c, PMS BL68c) dated 2nd July 1942 serial number F/4 8/103 printed signature George Mackenzie titled General Manager and manuscript signature Robertson titled P. Accot. The obverse in blue on light green and red sunburst underprint featuring Bank's Coat of Arms at upper centre surrounded by value in panels at left and right and at far left - a panel displaying Ditat and seated helmeted Athena (Pallas). The reverse in blue on light green underprint featuring an enlarged Ditat helmeted Athena (Pallas) panel at centre and numerical value panels at left and right. GEF or Scottish UNC as some would say due to the engrained habit of Scottish bank tellers of folding their notes to fit them in their tills. Printed by Waterlow & Sons Ltd London Wall, London imprinted in lower centre obverse and reverse, on 'granite' paper containing red and blue silk fibres as an additional security feature. An Exceptionally Rare war-time note and very seldom offered in this superb high grade with sharp corners, certain to be a fabulous addition to any advanced Scottish collection therefore this being a unique opportunity to acquire it
