Crown 1671 Second Bust Variety, R over B in FRA, unlisted by the 1992 ESC, Bull 385, Fine or better, weak in the centre as often on Charles II Crowns, a very clear overstrike. We note that we have listed the 'T over R in FRA' variety on many occasions, (rated R4) but this is the first 'R over B in FRA' variety we have offered, so by statistical analysis we believe that to be a much rarer type with potentially only very small numbers in existence. We note also that it is not listed in the 2024 Standard Catalogue

Halfcrown 1671 1 over 0 VICESIMO TERTIO edge, ESC 469, Bull 468, VG/NVG the reverse with some misty areas around the edge, the overdate clear and beyond dispute, our archive database shows that this is only the second example we have offered in 20 years, so possibly rarer than catalogue values would suggest

Halfcrown 1670 MRG for MAG on reverse, ESC 467A, Bull 455, VG, the reverse with a 'misty' area in the centre, the legends and the MRG error bold and clear, rated R3 by Bull, this only the second example we have offered in 20 years, comes with old sales ticket for £32.
Halfcrown 1920 Davies 1672N struck in a hard nickel type alloy and weighing 12.43 grammes. There are 1924 trial nickel shillings, with a very rare example struck metrically weighing 5 gr. The 1672N Halfcrown listed here may also be a Royal Mint trial, when a complete elimination of silver seemed feasible. There appears to be an interesting 'privy' mark, introduced by a thicker down stroke to the 'D' of 'Dei' with the top serif of this 'D' being double struck. The border bead above is also oversized (wider). This would be an odd occurrence for any counterfeiter, especially on top of striking perfectly die-cut, but lightweight coins in this hard metal, and having excellent milling. a similar example was listed in Auction A151 6/12/2015 (Lot 2687, weight 11.92 grammes, realised £120 hammer price), the description then stating that only 6 of these examples were then known to the vendor Near Fine/VG a highly unusual type, in an LCGS holder and graded LCGS 15, Ex-Colin Adams collection
Halfcrown 1921 ESC 768, Bull 3722, Davies 1678 dies 3C, UNC toned, in an LCGS holder and graded LCGS 80, Note: Halfcrowns of the 1920-1925 period very hard to find in grades 80 and above, due to weak strikes, poor metal mix, many have poorly prepared blanks too, they are also liable to heavy bagmarking, so given all these minting problems, only a small percentage will even have a chance to achieve high grades in third party holders
Crown 1673 3 over 2 VICESIMO QVINTO edge, ESC 48, Bull 393 VG/approaching Fine with an edge nick and a tone line on the reverse, listed as Rare by Bull, Ex-London Coins Auction A166 1/9/2019 Lot 1512, hammer price £225
