1821 Independence/San Martin, 39mm diameter in silver, peso-sized medal, General San Martin, Obverse with sun and rays, legend LIMA LIBRE JURO SU INDEPENDENCIA EN 28 D JULIO D 1821; reverse with BAJO LA / PROTECCION / DEL EGERCITO / LIBERTADOR / DEL PERU / MANDADO / POR SAN / MARTIN within laurel wreath. Fonrobert-8995. UNC with considerable lustre and virtually free from contact marks, the reverse retaining much brilliance, a small edge bruise visible from the obverse only barely detracts, we note an example graded MS64 sold in a US auction for $777 in October 2012 (this example certainly of comparable quality)
