Medals : Lot 1403




1403 Hanoverian Medal for Waterloo 1815 awarded to Soldat Ludwig Schnat, Landwehr Battalion, Hameln. VF with some surface marks and edge nicks. Commanded by Major Von Strube, the Battalion was part of the 5th British Infantry Division under the command of Lieutenant General Sir Thomas Picton, who was the highest ranking allied casualty at Waterloo, and one of two MPs to be killed at Waterloo. The medal was authorised by the Prince Regent on behalf of his father George III in his capacity as Elector of Hanover and this was conferred on survivors of the battle. £850 - £950
