(2) a pair of very collectible portrait issues comprising a World War II period example 1 Pick 16 ND 1943 uniface serial number A/1 528042, uniface in purple blue and lilac on teal and multicolour underprint, EF. Along with a 1 Pick 22 Law 1949 (1951) possibly a first series prefix serial number A/1 744381 and a high grade example in a PCGS Currency holder Choice About UNC 58, a Thomas & Company Limited print in reddish brown on pale lime green and pale red underprint and watermarked with the allegorical figure of Malta, also features the St. George Cross at left on obverse awarded to the people of Malta for their courage, bravery and involvement in World War II being under constant besiege by Axis forces, serving to "bear witness to the heroism and devotion of its people".
